To be fair, this is a good spot to stop for lunch whilst skiing. Good mountain views and the food is pretty good. We ate there days ago and We nearly walked back out as we were ignored for ten mins or so ......But after we were served the service was ok. We called in today as we were passing again and waned a bit of lunch and a drink. We took a table right near the front and as it was still filled with used pots and glasses, I tried to get the waitress .. JULIA. to clear the table so I could sit down. I greeted her times over a ten minute period, with Bon jour, but she didn't even acknowledge me! Another couple went more into the outside seating area and was taken menus straight away!!!!!! M...
We ended up having a lunch at Chalet Des Ours by a chance as we wanted to have a break after a busy day on the slopes. As the weather was not that good, and it was not possible to sit out, we've expected...to have a problem to get a table inside, but the staff were very helpful and did their best to accommodate su without a long wait. Service was friendly and professional, the food was great. Do not expect high standards fo cooking on the slopes, but onion soup, though somewhat different from what you usually have in France in bistros, and hamburgers (though not hand cut as the menu indicates) were delicious. unfortunately I have friends here for lunch with nice lunch here in the past. we came, although it was very busy, out there were many tables inside. we were shown to a table when a waiter gave the menus. have taken our beverage order, we said we know what we want to eat, but he said he would come back for our food order. we need to wait minutes until our order is taken, were very close after we waited a few minutes for our food. a court came cold, but we were so excited to starve until this time we did not complain. the kitchen staff could obviously not cope with the crowd of people. unfortunately will not be very disappointed.
we thought for a fast hot koko and decided to share a fresh house made pasta with smoked salmon. no hot koko, but the dish was nice and warm, fresh and creamy with a lot of laughs in it. it was full of people in the midday. So it was a bit loud and since the entrance is small, they have people walking around to find tables and it is a bit crowded. no place to relax, romantic lunch. but perfect for a quick stop.

we are around, so there were many tables that choose from inside with a view of the abyss of the valley. service was prompt and eating was nice. many other places that do not even invite an salad with lunch, but we...follow this was good quality, tasty and cheap for val thorens. we would have liked to have offered more drinks during the meal, but that was the only negative
After spending many hours braving the snow, fighting off polar bears and penguins skiing really) came across this mountain restaurant and decided to refuel, an omelette was the chosen food . Only for it to turn up more like an egg soup with lumps...in and as the service was so slow I decided to just move on and eat raw whale with the local Inuits.
We had stops here for hot wine. It was great, maybe the best that we drink during our vacation. So we decided to have our lunch here. That was our mistake. Pasta was terrible. Burger was bad. We ordered some mozzarella but they don't...have it. So my opinion you should stay here for hot wine or quick meal like panini or pancakes.
most likely the best place to lunch during the day close to the center of val thorens only in the middle of sloop. large portions for very reasonable prices. And do not forget that big dogs (lord and another) are looking for their attention...and a part of the meal:

Super cosy mountain restaurant- we only stopped for chocolate chaud, crepes and beer but all were very much enjoyed. We found the staff efficient and professional- prices are par for the course for a mountain restaurant i.e. on the high side.
Have had lunch here a couple of times and have had good meals both times staff are always friendly and most speak enough languages to cover all visitors. Nice location with great views.
