I came here with friends the other night. It is one of their favorite places to go for drinks. They only have street parking here. It is right under the train. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. It is a bit dark inside, although we did go at night. It was very intimate. The music was blasting. They play all kinds of music. We came just for a margarita and some chips with salsa. Best salsa I've had in a long time. I loved it. And the margaritas weren't too strong and weren't too frozen where it would give you brain freeze. My friends tell me the food is amazing and the quesadillas are to die for. So next time I come that is what I am going to try.
The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the kitchen staff consistently produces quality authentic delicious well presented meals. The drinks are great, the mole is the best in Astoria, the guacamole is prepared fresh to order, and the calamari is tender and crispy. One dollar oysters always plump and fresh) is the reason we tried Chano’s, and we’re so happy that it’s a regular menu item!! Great staff, talented Chefs, authentic Mexican cuisine in a charming casual setting. I wish I could give this place 100/5 stars. It's seriously amazing. Everything I've eaten there, I'm obsessed with (it's why it's hard to pick something on the menu, it's ALL really good). The guacamole has to be my favorite though, super fresh and the chips are the perfect level of salty and crispy. The burrito bowl... I don't even like beans, and this bowl has a certain amount of them, but the beans are stewed SO perfectly with cheese and salt that it tastes REALLY fantastic. The meats? Seasoned and clean and fresh and amazing. I'm obsessed with this place, 10/10 recommend.
My server was extraordinary. Such a nice kid and seemed genuinely interested in what this old man was doing in Astoria on a Monday evening. And the Chano's Burrito was excellent. My server did recommend the Broccoli Burrito (not vegetarian) after I ordered. And great prices on Happy Hour beers (this isn't Manhattan). I thoroughly enjoyed the happy hour margaritas and burrito combo at this lively and welcoming restaurant. The standout moment was when Jose brought out the guacamole cart to make the freshest and most delicious guacamole I've ever tasted right in front of me. The food, service, and ambiance were all top-notch. I will definitely return when I'm back in NYC.
Fantastic restaurant! I ordered chilaquiles and received a generous portion that was absolutely delicious. The coffee was great, and the atmosphere was lovely. There was some pleasant live music, featuring ballads sung by a very talented singer. The service was outstanding, particularly from the hostess, who I believe is named Camila.
Even with a lunch menu, do not expect a cheap food bargain. However, the early happy hour with a wide variety of drink options will balance your budget. A true Long Island City (NYC) experience with the N/W trains rumbling above. I will be back to try more of the lunch menu offerings.Food: 5/5

We enjoyed 3 kinds of tacos and veggie enchiladas, salsas, big beers and margaritas. All were great. Super value for quality.Vegetarian options: Veggie enchiladas
