Had luscious scones and fresh-baked chocolate cake, plus a delightful conversation with the owner (originally from Noah's Ark, UK), at this quaint little tea room just down the cobblestone street from the entrance to the abbey where Eleanor of Aquitaine, King Henry II of England, and Richard the Lionhearted were once buried. The tea room is filled floor to ceiling with decorative and useful items, and we loved the "Beware of Cat" sign - don't be concerned, William of "The Cat of Fontevraud" fame, is 17 years old and docile. They have a one-room chambre d'hote room upstairs which we may try on a future visit.
