Hit or Miss? Dinner: We stumbled upon this restaurant one Friday evening and decided to give it a try. To our surprise, we were seated right away at 6 p.m., with no wait on a busy Friday night. There was live blues music that night, which was enjoyable. We sat in the dining room, but could hear the music from the bar area as well. As for the food, we were pleasantly surprised. The prices were reasonable and our waiter, Ethan, recommended the crayfish etouffee, which was delicious. The catfish dinner was also excellent, as was our appetizer. The food at this restaurant was decent. The service was slow, likely because there were only about 7 people eating at the odd time of day (3:30). However, the staff were very nice and attentive when they were present. The main issue was the outdated decor, with torn seats, chipped paint, and missing blinds with trim. The rock music playing was a bit too loud for a restaurant setting, although we were still able to have a conversation. After watching enough episodes of restaurant rescue shows, I would hesitate to return as the poor condition of the restaurant makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen.
We had a good experience starting with the warm corn breads at the restaurant. The service was also good. The Shrimp Etouffee was delicious, but the Jambalaya was a bit bland. I added a little salt myself and it improved the flavor. The Jambalaya at Baci in Pleasanton is much better. The other dishes we tried were enjoyable. I've heard their breakfast is good as well, but I haven't been there for breakfast yet. Maybe next time. In any case, we plan to return to this restaurant.
The service and atmosphere at the restaurant were excellent. However, the food did not meet expectations. The cornbread was stale, the chicken was dry, and the coleslaw lacked flavor.
