This is a pub, not a sports bar or Applebee's. Like many literal British pubs owned by actual British peoples, this pub has nuances that don't mesh readily with American preconceived notions of service. It has bartenders with character and grit, and locals alike. It has a long history of great and not so great happenings. If you are taking a ride on the Contented Cow I suggest, make sure you thicken your skin when stepping up to the taps. If you are a j it's highly possible you will get reciprocal treatment. 98% of the time you will get the service you are looking for. If not, politely request service. I've never had an experience I didn't enjoy here. Often has music, and much of it is good....
This cozy British themed pub was hosting a European motorcycle gathering so I decided to swing by. It’s cleverly hidden on the lower level, which some might call the basement. The staff was warm and friendly. There’s enough with the cozy couch and chairs and there’s a deck out back that overlooks the Cannon River. I would like to come back on a beautiful summer day when I’m not riding and then I could have a beer or two on the patio. Also I wouldn’t mind coming back in the winter and causing up inside chatting with friends.
Loved the bartender, I went there for my friends 21st and was like bruh I know nothing about alcohol just serve us something good and he gave us some really good stuff. Also enjoyed the Monday night music, might take my fiddle next week
We were walking on the River Walk and heard music and found this fun place and enjoyed having a drink and listening to some great music. It was a treat we didn't expect!

My brother's band plays at Contented Cow for Jesse James Days. CC is an awesome place and wonderful atmosphere.
Dylanfest is always a great time. Drinks and food are good. Patio is great.
The Cow is a great, cozy space with an excellent tap selection.
