I have been disappointed with the quality of many National Trust tea rooms lately. The one at Cragside was particularly poor, with inexperienced staff that affected the quality of the drinks. Many customers were overheard complaining about their experience. Additionally, the prices have significantly increased, which I understand is due to the rising cost of food products. However, I feel that the prices are not justified, as a simple sausage roll costs £3.95. I believe that lowering the prices could attract more customers to the cafes. I will definitely reconsider visiting these tea rooms in the future, except for beverages.
Cragside is an amazing destination! It is truly unlike any other place and you can easily spend a full day there. Be ready to do some walking and make sure to wear comfortable shoes so you can fully enjoy the beautiful paths throughout the estate. The admission price for non-National Trust members is quite high, so much so that we decided to rejoin in order to save money. By visiting three National Trust properties during our vacation, we had already covered the cost of our annual membership.
This is definitely one of the best National Trust properties. There is so much to see inside the unique house and the grounds are absolutely stunning. Enjoy lovely walks and a scenic drive through the grounds along the Carriage Drive with designated stop-off points. If you are in Northumberland, make sure you don't miss visiting this place.
The house is outstanding!! Loads of visual ‘’experiments’’ to see in glass cases. The house and grounds are well maintained. The house and gardens are not accessible by wheelchair. The house was not open to the public on the day we visited, but we have visited previously. The grounds are very interesting at any season whether driving or walking. It is really difficult to experience all areas on one visit. The cafe is useful but there was a limited menu on the day of our visit
Our second visit to Cragside. It truly is the most spectacular house and gardens we have visited as Trust members. The story of the house and all the inventions is just wonderful. The grounds are huge and there is so much to see of beauty and history. Walks to suit all abilities.
