D' Caribbean Curry Spot Cuisine

We had a great experience when we first ordered from this restaurant, but our second visit today was a letdown. We tried the brown stew chicken and curry chicken entrees, and almost everything was disappointing. The rice and peas tasted like plain minute rice with no seasoning at all. Both chicken dishes were lacking in sauce, and the wilted salad that came with them was unappetizing. There was a strange yellow sauce on the side that might have been a dressing, but it had a foul smell. My plantains were mushy and also had some of the yellow sauce on them. We live in Pearland, just down the street from the Curry Spot, but whenever we crave Trini food (I was born in Trinidad), we usually drive an hour to Katy for J&D because their food is simply better. Last night, we decided to give the Curry Spot another chance, and it reminded us exactly why we prefer J&D. The curry chicken was tough and chewy, poorly seasoned, and lacked flavor. The curry shrimp was small and mushy, with no hint of freshness. The portions of roti were also quite small, and the channa in the doubles was very minimal. D’Caribbean taste of Trinidad !! We indulged in the flavorful Oxtails with rice and beans, a combo of oxtail and jerk chicken, two kids meals and even took a beef patty to go. The generous portions and authentic Trinidadian flavors made this our new go to spot for Caribbean food!!We were looking for taste from NY/ NJ and this spot satisfied our craving.

Purchased food from this place and when we arrived home [9 miles later] we opened our order to discover the food had a sour smell. We threw out the roti but my brother took a chance and ate his doubles. This resulted in him having diarrhea. Go elsewhere or check your food before leaving. The place is family owned and great food and service from oxtails to goat to doubles..great food. Always hot ..I just hate they're closed on Monday and Tuesday..lol...the days I want my doubles fix...A rated...continue to serve great food and have a wonderful personality both owners.

Tried this place for the first time today. Owner was great and the food was amazing. Authentic carribean food and you get large survings which makes the price extremely reasonable. I will be back for sure!

The service was slow. The food was rancid. Seriously it was inedible and very expensive. Save your money and don't go here. It may have been good once upon a time, but it is trash now.
