Usually a great spot, but it's impossible to reach the restaurant by phone. For over a year, the number on receipts and Google hasn't worked. So when my order is missing items or I get half-empty fries and can't drive back, my only option is to contact customer service. They respond three days later saying I've been refunded—but how when I paid in cash? In the past, they sent gift certificates, but what if I just want my money back? They really need to improve their customer service. Del Taco just isn't what it used to be!
This Del Taco is incredibly run-down and unfortunately serves as the only option for Downtown and Golden Hill. I've been coming here once or twice a year for the last 20 years, and it has never seen any improvements or changes. Opting for the drive-thru is definitely the best choice. If you decide to go inside, be prepared to encounter some local panhandlers or individuals bothering the staff. The atmosphere here is exceptionally unpleasant, and it's been this way for two decades, despite the menu offerings.
The food here is consistently excellent, and I seldom have to fix any mistakes with my orders. The restaurant is located in an older building in a somewhat unusual spot, but it's a great place to satisfy late-night cravings. They are the only place I know of that still includes green salsa in their burritos (unlike Taco Bell!). The drive-thru is a bit cramped, but if you're skilled behind the wheel, you can easily maneuver a lifted four-door truck with a long bed through it.
Who doesn’t enjoy a quick, tasty taco? Del Taco dominates this niche. It’s nothing fancy, just quality $2 American-style tacos. They offer good alternatives like a solid burger, arguably the best chili cheese fries, and a Southern California favorite—the chicken soft taco. It’s not the place for authentic Mexican cuisine, but it’s definitely worth a visit.

I enjoyed every moment at Del Taco; it's far better than Taco Bell in my opinion. The staff, especially the manager, were fantastic. I loved the strawberry cinnamon shakes and the amazing stuffed tortilla carne asada. I give the service a perfect 10/10. Highly recommended!
I ordered the fiesta pack and was disappointed to find that each item contained barely a spoonful of meat. Usually, Del Taco offers a great deal, but this time it felt more like I was just getting a tortilla.
Had to eat at DelTaco being a fan of Grace Frankie. We don't have them in the Midwest, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the good taste. Taco also didn't fall apart while eating. A big plus.
I was having a low sugar event, Del Taco's double strawberry with Sprite was just what I needed ? A great drink at a reasonable price and a crisis averted.
