This has to lay claim's of being Heidelberg's best bar. We had tried to get in here the previous night but the bar was just so full so we made a point of going here the next day as it looked so cool. Housed in...a beautiful eyecatching buiding walking in and you are immediately struck by the tree behind the bar and the interesting painting's along the wall's. The bench seating along the bar is fantastic and unusual and all in all it's just a great bar. Spent many a happy evening here, from New Years Eve to afternoons relaxing after work. The design inside is eclectic and one of its kind.....not to be missed! It can and does get extremely busy so probably not ideal for a first date!
Don't leave Heidelberg without trying Melonenschnaps here. But if you are not for being crowded and crammed with people, avoid going there on thursday or at the weekend, which are the most popular going-out-days for students.

one of the rare places where smokers do not have to go outside for a zigarette. the beer is great, the service is perfect and jolly, music is always brilliant! definitely recommend this place, especially during the day!
It is a small pub, and it is always very crowded. But the music is great, and also the attention of the bartenders. The prices are normal and they have a good variety of drinks. Very recommended to spend some minutes
I visited this bar in 1977. then a young American high-school child. going back was very surreal. not much has changed. will be back, but this time not take 40 years.
we visited with a friend of mine a very cozy traditional little pub in the lower road! a visit worth! has a very good selection of dishes and very beautiful beer!

Several good kinds of beer for reasonable price. Nice atmosphere and music on the punk, rock and heavy kinds. Kindly staff and really nice people.
