After having lived in this area for a number of years we decided to try this place with visiting guests from the USA. The place was clean, the staff friendly and the main dishes HUUUGE. Ordered asparagus soup as an appetizer which was good and would order again. The fries were served hot and were tasty. Fried potatoes were fried too much for our taste with many of them being very, very done. Spaetzle and gravy was good. Deutsches Haus schnitzle was HUGE as well as the schnitzel with mushrooms and gravy along with schnitzel and asparagus. All in all the food was just OK in my opinion. All the local Germans we know that live in the Kusel area, say this is the place to eat. So when some friends were spending their last night in Germany, we decided to take them there. We're so glad we did. First off, make reservations. We had tried twice before to walk in, and no joy. The restaurant is very clean. The decor is somewhat minimilist, but nice. Das deutsche Haus hat seine guten Bewertungen aufgrund seiner riesigen Portionen. Die Größe ist jedoch nicht alles. Die Saucen und Suppen kommen sehr dickflüssig/mehlig daher. Die gewünschten Garstufen beim Steak werden nicht berücksichtigt. "English" war der Bedienung nicht bekannt und so kam das Steak ebenso wie das medium bestellte fast komplett durch. Viele mögen sich darüber freuen, das auf fast jedem Gericht noch ein Klecks Sahne ist, bei Lactose-Intoleranz wird einem der Geschmack aber verdorben. Das Ambiente ist gemütlich. We went to a castle nearby and decided to check out a trip advisor recommendation. This restaurant is nice, coxy, has indoor and outdoor seating. They have a kids menu too. I do have to say, the portions are HUGE. My Jaegerschnitzel was the size of my plate, the fries came on another plate. My husband and I could have shared a meal and be full. Helles, renoviertes Lokal das schon seit über 25 Jahren besteht und im Familienbesitz ist. Ich war zum ersten mal zum Mittagstisch dort. Auswahl von mehreren Gerichten ab 6,50 Euro auf der kleinen Speisekarte. Da findet jeder was nach seinem Geschmack. Frisch zubereitet und geschmacklich sehr gut. Freundliches und nettes Personal.
Da macht es Freude essen zu gehen. Sehr sauber und gepflegt. Speisekarte reichhaltig. Wer hier nix für sich findet ist selber schuld. Portionen für mich zu groß aber kein Problem, man bekommt den Rest ohne Worte verpackt zum mitnehmen. Preise total in Ordnung. Personal freundlich und auf Zack.
