I drove out to see what was offered on newstead to be honest, there is not a big one there, but it is a very charming little town with caffes and a bustling local super market on the main street, the natives are friendly and welcome. they happen like them. this caffe oozes character and offers a warm, welcoming reception. the ladies sat me in the garden area outside. the early weather meant that there were rain cubes from time to time, but the corner in which they sat me had a huge umbrella. they sat me next to a place called rita. the hour or so I stopped here for lunch, was really pleasant. rita was a beautiful lady and great company. I had a blt and an orange juice for lunch. I enjoyed my...

We stopped here for coffees and toasties on our way to Echuca and to say we were disappointed is a gross understatement. It was almost as if it was an imposition for us to be there. We sat outside and had our names taken, then...received a flippant comment about 'getting menus '. We ordered and the food and drinks came out quickly, we requested a condiment and you 'd swear we asked for gold plated cutlery. This was not the end of it..........a 2nd staff member was just a rude when one of our party asked how she could get out to the bathroom. Unfortunately 3 of our party work in hospitality and word travels like wildfire when it comes to bad service. It 's a shame because the coffee and food...

On a beautiful summer day, four friends and two Austin Healey cars went for a drive in the countryside and found a hidden gem in Newstead for brunch. We sat outside in the sun and ordered refreshing drinks, including ginger beer from Harcourt. Each of us ordered something different - I had the turkish bread with chicken, avocado, and mayo which was delicious. The pea and haloumi fritters looked amazing, my husband enjoyed the linguine. The service was excellent, with our requests being promptly fulfilled. The staff was accommodating and had a great attitude, something other restaurants could learn from. Overall, a great dining experience in the countryside.

My husband and I, along with another couple of friends, decided to go for a drive and have brunch in beautiful Newstead. We searched for the best places to eat and Dig came up as a top option. We highly recommend this relaxed cafe with both outdoor and indoor dining options in such a lovely regional town. The menu was fantastic and the service was impeccable. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, going above and beyond to answer our questions and suggest menu items that weren't even listed. Do yourself a favor and give Dig a try! I visited dig several times and always had a very pleasant experience. the soup and ham soup with crumbs is hearty and tasty, the tee is real leaf tee not tees bags that is a rarity in these days. Moreover, they often have artists who show their paintings on the walls, giving a beautiful ambiente. I couldn't resist buying one.

We frequent The Dig often. The owner always greets us warmly and the staff are eager to help. The meals may not be large, but they are delicious. You can enjoy alcohol or opt for soft drinks, coffee, or tea. It's definitely worth a visit. The sourdough bread used is sourced from Newstead Bakery and is excellent.
