We always start with a dozen tamales and then an excellent steak. I have been eating at Doe's for over ten years and have tried every steak they offer. I can say without reservation that they are all excellent and always cooked exactly like I order them. The cocktails are also extremely good. They make a wonderful Martini. It is a great place to enjoy friends and family and have a great meal also.
Doe's serves steaks that rival all of the well-known higher-end steak house chains, but does it in a down-home, casual way. The service is great and the Southern charm makes this a favorite place to return for an amazing meal without being fancy. The quality of the meat is top-notch and they cook the steak right every time. Don't skip out on the tamales and the marinated salad before your entree.
The food is excellent. I highly recommend the filet, the angry shrimp, and oyster appetizers. Service was good but not what I would expect for the price. FYI, look at the bill before signing it. Gratuity was included on my bill, which was over $1000 before they added their tip.
