My first visit to this little gem in its beautiful setting. Welcomed by one of the owners who also served us, we enjoyed a delightful evening looking down at the distant lights of Carcassonne. This place was a real find. There is no set menu. Instead the chef visits the markets each day and selects best produce for dinner. I was impressed with the chef's flexibility. Each of the four of us had different dietary requirements and each of us was offered the most delicious and beautifully presented courses. It was so interesting to be able to talk to the owner about how she and her family had decided to move from Holland to set up and run this boutique B&B in the French countryside. Another time...
This tucked away, dream of a property serves exquisite, freshly prepared dishes in a beautiful dining area. It is not a huge dining room and for more intimate occasions, diners can be served in the area with the impressive inglenook fireplace.Every attention is paid to detail and the chef personally presents each of her dishes at the table. The menu is set but Jolanda will modify the food to accommodate everyone's tastes when notified on booking.The dinner menu has 2 fixed prices, depending on the number of courses and is really exceptional value for money. Went to the restaurant with friends who recommended we try there. Beautiful setting at the top of a hill, with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside - as we looked out of the window, La Cité at Carcassonne was picked out in the setting sun - amazing ! A log fire was set up whilst we had our pre dinner drinks, sitting in a large lounge which adjoined the dining room.There was a set menu, served and explained by our hostess and chef, which was beautifully cooked and presented and very much enjoyed by all 4 of us ; we chose local wines to accompany the meal which complimented the whole experience.A really great evening !
Heard about this restaurant from friends and just had to try. Welcomed by a beautiful log burning fire. After apero's in front of the fire we were shown to our table with stunning views over Carcassonne and had an outstanding meal Amuse-bouche with three courses and lovely wine of the region. Enjoyed that the food is all freshly cooked and you are not rushed. Cadre exceptionnel et très agréable par beau temps. Mais le service est extrêmement lent, et les plats peu copieux... Un apéritif très léger : amandes grillées-salées et des roulés (type wrap) seulement. Le choix des garnitures n'a pas été respecté. Le gâteau était beau en présentation mais s'est décomposé à la coupe... J'avais faim en partant.Par ailleurs l'accueil n'a pas été chaleureux pour les premiers convives.Je ne le recommande pas pour un repas de grande famille (50 personnes).
We spent a lovely week at Domaine Michaud. The hotels is beautifully situated and very peaceful. Jolanda is the perfect hostess and has exceptional taste in furnishings. We were most comfortable. We were given advice on where to visit and how long journeys would take, all useful information. We also ate in the restaurant on three of the evenings and the food was excellent. Jolanda is a superb chef. The menu is set but any dietary requirements are taken into account.
We returned to Domaine Michaud after our fantastic first meal last November, and had just as nice a visit on this occasion. Top quality food, friendly service, and a super location. I'm now fully vegan, but this was no problem for Jolanda, who served up a fine dining full vegan menu (photos below), as well as a normal formule for my husband. A short drive from Carcassonne, definitely worth trying if you are in the area. We'll definitely be back!
Best food we have tasted for a very long time.The location is a stunning position high in the hills with views of Carcassonne and the surrounding countryside from the windows and terraces.The is a surprise set menu which changes every evening. Went here for the first time last night to celebrate St Valentine's day. We had a glorious meal, excellent food, nice atmosphere and a beautiful setting. We also enjoyed the fact that, as all the food is freshly prepared, there was no great rush. We'll be going again soon.
