We visited Dominique Portet Winery as part of a private Yarra Valley wine tour, on July, 24, and enjoyed it greatly. We had instructed our guide that we wanted serious tastings with smaller producers, and not larger, highly commercialized wineries. Dominique Portet fit that profile very well. The winery is very interesting, both from its beauty, and from its historical perspective. We opted to do a “barrel tasting,” which is always fun. Now, barrel tastings are probably best, when one lives close to a winery, and can chart the progress of the wines, over time in barrel, say every 6 weeks. A single barrel tasting is probably of less importance, than several over a span of time – but fun, none...

Friendly Cellar Door sales and casual dining in a lovely setting in the heart of the Yarra Valley. Lovely outdoor eating options when the weather is kind and pleasant dining options inside in the tasting area. Menu is limited but the quality is faultless and the presentation is impressive. Pricing is very reasonable and the wine selection is interesting with quality wines on offer. The sparkling Rose is dry, refreshing and brilliant.Have visited at least three times and have never been disappointed. The establishment also features a petanque (boulles) area and having a game of boulles with a local wine close at hand is a great way to end the visit. Don't miss it.

Like the curate's egg - the Dominique Portet restaurant is good in parts. The good parts are the wine and the food so it deserves a 'very good' if you think these are important for a winery restaurant. The tasting room/restaurant is a bit quirky with various bibs and bobs on display, seemingly mostly for sale. The service has elements of Faulty Towers which we chose to find amusing rather than alarming. There are flashier restaurant/cellar doors in the Yarra Valley but this is a pleasant one and well worth a visit (just bring your sense of humour with you when it comes to table service).

We arrived and our tasting was organised by David from (Chauffeur Drive) with Valentin in the cellar barrel area. A great experience with plenty of information given to us in a most pleasant manner by Valentin about the French wine process and the father/son combination of Dominique and Ben Portet and their wine styles. A highlight being a barrel tasting along with tasting a great selection of wines. A number of which were then purchased as they were most enjoyable to the palette. A great experience and a winery that we will definitely return to. Reserva una mesa ahora

I particularly like the wines here. Unfortunately for us not all the usual white wines were available for tasting because they had sold out! Testament to their excellent quality. Still we enjoyed what was available. We did not eat on this occasion but hope to next time. the cellar door staff were efficient and friendly. It was a lovely day, so after tasting we had a game of petanque which was good fun.

Been to this winery a few times and it never fails me. It is in a great position with gorgeous views and the hospitality is second to none. High quality wines and food from a limited menu) serviced by the friendliest and most capable crew around. See you next time!!

I've been to Dominique Portet many times with Melbourne visitors. Most people like the wines and some put them on the top of their list. 10th generation of winemakers! The best place to visit for wine lovers.

Lovely setting, good wines, but must say the welcome was not warm, more a chord. On positive, nice coffee.....but that's not why you go there?! Reserva una mesa ahora

Charming winery tasting area. Birdsong and views in the car park area. Best Rose outside France (well, except for Medhurst Rose).
