Ordered for delivery last night an hour before closing and the order we received was so half a**ed that if they weren't already closed we would have driven there just to show them. I ordered chorizo tacos. They gave me a mess of a platter with only 2 tortillas, 5 puny pieces of shredded lettuce and a rotten lime slice and that's it. I thought it was a prank. My husband and I shared the chips and salsa and not only did it lack flavor in all angles. It was a tiny tiny portion and didn't even have salt.. all you could taste was tomato and cilantro. Under new ownership Don Juan has transformed from a disappointing dining establishment to one of true promise. New ideas ring true here from an easy to use tablet menu to the cute small spoon size dessert shovels used to enjoy a flavorful ice cream dessert. A shared ground beef Nachos Supremos was a fine starter for the three of us. Main courses included a satisfying sizzling Steak Fajitas served with Mexican rice and beans. The Camarones a la Diabla Spicy jumbo wild shrimp in a special hot served was equally pleasing. It took quite some time to get our server’s attention, which we could understand given the holiday and possible staffing shortages. There were two servers in the back dining area and about four runners who could have assisted us while our server was busy. This was the main reason for our drop in rating: the loud music made it difficult to converse, and we were charged for the margarita we never received. Overall, we would consider coming back because the food was excellent, and we hope the service will improve next time.
This authentic Mexican restaurant really captures the vibe you’re seeking! The service is exceptional, and the staff is incredibly attentive. We were treated to complimentary chips and salsa with a generous portion of salsa for the table. For appetizers, we had the quesabirria tacos, which came with three flavorful dipping sauces. We recently visited Pleasantville and came across this Mexican restaurant. I recalled that this was an Italian restaurant years ago, so when I found out it had transformed into a Mexican spot, I knew I had to satisfy my taco cravings. The decor was really interesting, the staff was friendly, and the food was quite tasty. I was a bit let down by the limited wine selection, but a refreshing sangria made up for it. Overall, it's a great addition to this charming little town. Enjoy!
Best Mexican restaurant in Pleasantville! I've been here a handful of times and enjoyed the experience every time! Their food is great and their service is delightful. They have some decent deals on food and drinks which may be worth checking out. It's not the biggest place but environment inside feels authentic. I would recommend giving The Don Juan a try, you won't regret it! 8/10
Waiter was extremely rude and was angry at our group for only ordering appetizers and drinks even though our bill was $200+. We were extremely courteous and kind to our waiter for horrible service in return. We had a speaker playing bad music in our ears the whole time. The food was below mid and drinks were watered down.
The shrimp isn't properly de-veined, the steak is an obliterated overcooked brick, the beans are a runny sludge, the chips are stale and unseasoned, the salsa is devoid of any flavor, and the churros are break-your-teeth rock hard.
