Donto Sapporo is a real gem located at the Sorrento shopping village in Bundall. Donto is a small Japanese restaurant with no windows that can seat appropriately 40 customers max. If you have never heard of them before head over now because this is real authentic Japanese food and as close to what you will find in Japan, with real Japanese decor that makes you feel like you’re in Japan. The biggest compliment I can give a restaurant is to have back to meals in the same place. Nevertheless, these two meals were not enough to sample the extensive range of traditional Japanese dishes at Donto Sapporo. I had a good feeling when I came to the restaurant to find daily specialties that had the freshest products they had to offer. For dinner we had a beautiful Sashimi plate and I tried a smoked Mackarel Bow for lunch. The staff was friendly and hospitable during our visit. I'm going to be looking forward to my next visit when I get to the Gold Coast.
It feels like I'm experiencing it all over again. Wow, it's been way too long since I've tasted such incredible flavors. If you're in search of authentic Japanese cuisine that is flawlessly prepared, Donto Sapporo is a must-visit! Their lunch set, priced under $20, offers unbelievable value!
Amazing dishes!! Blue-fin tuna was so delicious! Felt as if I went back to Japan. All the staff are very kind, friendly and attentive. Japanese sake they offer are also excellent and very reasonable. Definitely a recommended Japanese restaurant on the coast as a Japanese myself.

At the first I was thinking it is a bit over priced. But the sashimi is very fresh and fatty. The cuts were thick. Usually I only like salmon sashimi the most just because of how fatty and it feels like it’s melting in your mouth but all the sashimi here is quite excellent!
We love the cozy ambience. We love how polite the owners and staff were. We love how amazing the food was. It’s this hidden gem we discovered in Gold Coast and we are so glad a friend recommended them and told us ‘it’s the best Japanese food in Brisbane’. It really is.
I enjoyed a delicious Nama Chirashi bowl and special oysters for lunch. There was a wide selection of seafood, and I was very pleased with my meal. The only downside was that I didn’t want to drive afterward because I would have liked to have a beer to complement it.
I really enjoy this restaurant. The food, atmosphere, service, and location are all fantastic. I highly recommend trying one of the set menus, which start at $49. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients, traditionally presented, and delicious.

Amazing Japanese cuisine featuring fresh ingredients, outstanding service, and a fantastic selection of sake and beer. The atmosphere makes you feel as though you're in Japan, even though you're in Australia. I highly recommend it!
