Dove’s brings a unique, lively Tex Mex flair to traditional diner food and vibes, and the service is excellent. The dishes are fresh, flavorful, and come out fast. It’s kind of pricey, but the portions are large and filling and my group of 4 had some leftovers afterwards. Make a reservation if you can— seating is limited and it gets quite busy for brunch especially on weekends. Dove’s is a fantastic spot whether you’re popping in for brunch or dinner. The inside brings you back to that old school diner vibe but it’s a significant upgrade when it comes to the food. If you like Mezcal, they also have a wide range of mezcal offerings straight up or in their cocktails. I think there needs to be a conversation about their OK Style Smash burger being one of the best in Chicago with a perfectly soft bun, great sauce, and a nice crispy lace on the patty. If you’re there for dinner you can’t skip it, and throw in some of their Al pastor fries. I’d also recommend the chicken fried chicken and their deviled eggs. I visited Chicago and a friend recommended this restaurant to me. It has quickly become my favorite spot in town. The atmosphere is fantastic, with a cozy diner feel complete with a jukebox, black and white photos, and old posters on the wall. My placemat even had a picture of agaves being processed, which I found charming. I ordered the Taco Norteño and it was delicious, especially paired with the salsa macha that was already on the table. Maxwell provided excellent service and engaging conversation. I came for breakfast so I did not try any spirits or cocktails, but I will definitely be back next time I am in Chicago. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The brisket hash was good. But, it came with mostly potatoes. I wish they either gave more brisket or added some other kind of vegetable. It was a large portion of potatoes. And the egg on top should have been cooked longer The friend chicken was good. Nice and crispy. The fries were good. Not too crispy, not too soggy. The drinks were bad. We got the horchata latte. Which tasted like watered down coffee and cinnamon. Did not taste like horchata. And we got the blueberry tea, which tasted like watered down tea. Not even a hint of blueberry.

I ordered the "Smash Burger" and it was good, but not worth the $16 price tag as it didn't come with any sides. The bartender at the bar was unfriendly and unresponsive, not even acknowledging our gratitude. My friend tried to engage in conversation about the menu, but the bartender was dismissive and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend this place for anyone looking for good service or reasonable prices.
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant. The fried chicken was a standout - the sauces that came with it were perfect. We also tried the burnt ends, which were very filling with the potatoes and toast. The sauce for the burnt ends was also exceptional. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area.

I tried the chicken fried chicken for lunch, and my friend tried the burnt ends hash — both great! We especially liked the fried chicken. The diner interior was cozy, and they hit the Tex Mex vibe and flavor!

Twice in a row!!! can’t missed when you came of the L at Damen from ORD. This place is a must stop their hash and secret sauce is to go.
The Dove’s special is one of my all time favorite breakfasts!
