on Saturday morning for breakfast buffet with my man and son. it was my first diner. I never had gone before because I had always heard terrible things from the PREVIOUS owners who scream in the restaurant and make a terrible experience there. let me just say that the inner city diner is now the place where my family will now go to the breakfast! we usually don't go to breakfast because there's no place in mattoon where it's worth it. everything was fresh, hot and tasty! from the fluffy ice cream and crisp speck, to the hash and roasted mais flour maize everything was perfect. Summary of the selection(in the French toast our server was thrilled how the kitchen staff filled the buffet. They don't wait until they decide to dinner! I'm sure we'll go to dinner again. ps we have a few cookies on the way out. yum! welcome in the neighborship hubbarts!
I grew up in the south most of my life, so when I came to mattoon to visit my man family. the diner is a must! love her wraps (especially the cheeseburger wrap), love her land fries steak dinner and the salatable is amazing! at the weekends they have a full-buffed bar (which I am in the usually not a fan of buffets, but here is the only place I am happy to go to breakfast at the weekend) . whenever they need a good ol' comfort....downtown diner is definitiw the place to go and eat! thanks young for always serving is hot, fresh and delicious eating!
this is a great place to bring a family or a large group, because there is something for everyone here. I was impressed by the many choices in the menu and buffet. I had heard good things about the Italian bark, so I went with it. it's a fixed choice. they get a decent part for the money, so, my opinion, they get a good value for their money here. the personal is friendly and attentive. the decor is cozy and comfortable.
