I was feeling lazy after work, and the fact that it was a Friday evening - I decided to pop-in to Doytao Thai in Croydon to pickup a family favourite - Sate 'chicken skewers with steamed Jasmine Rice and 6 Money Bags. The order was taken and 10 minutes later on a Friday evening I was walking out with my dinner. The service was nice and fast. I then Popped in to Croydon Cellars for a bottle of Rose and a Gevurtztraminer to wash down the delightful thai food. got home and I must say, I loved the Money Bags, they were crisp, fresh and still warm from the 15 minute journey home. Took me 20 minutes to drive here and what I get on a rainy monday night is terrible service and ridiculously expensive food.Ordered padseew and some of the noodles was burnt , took very long to make it . Order the fried rice but it was dry and plain. Ordered soft self crab and all i got was ONE small soft self crab for the price of $25-27 (cant remember exactly how much ) but it was so EXPENSIVE I love soft self crab and normaly went for Thai Pothong in Newtown , much cheaper and much better there - at least I got 5-6 pieces of soft self crab and can share between 2-3 peopleWhat I got at DoyTao Croydon is only one piece - seriously? Living in Croydon this is a favourite of ours, the food is real tasty and the service is excellent. Particularly good dishes are the fried fish with Basil and the King Street Fried Rice.Recently, rather than dining in, we just popped in for a take away and the food was ready super quick.
Doytao at Croydon has an excellent lunch menu that is not only very well priced but is also generous in portion size and flavour. The outside balcony area at the back of the restaurant is a very enjoyable place to have your meal.

Now im no expert but at 40 ive eaten Thai for at least 15 years. If my massaman is nearly beige and My Tom yum has 4 20c piece size pieces of chicken and 2 beans i know something is wrong. Not worth the wait or the money
I was alittle bit surprised to find this high quality Doytao Thai restaurant branch hidden away on the Strand in Croydon. The traditional food comes out to after order and there is a variety to suit all tastes.
That's all you need to know when it comes to Doytao Thai - their restaurants are always buzzing, their food tastes great! There's decent Thai food, and then there's Doytao Thai! Delicious!
Quite quick, soup comes in a rectangle plastic container with not alot of flavour or ingredients. Dont think of sharing or you will be fighting over a piece of chicken. Ive had better.

Very average, can't understand why people would choose a chain restaurant over the so many excellent nearby restaurnats
