Gothard - Reserva de mesa

Great food in a charming restaurant! I've not generally been impressed by Swiss cuisine, but Cafe Gothard is an exception. We went with two versions of the traditional roesti; the Gruerien and the Valaisan, both of which were excellent. The Valasian, with tomatoes and raclette cheese was a bit more plain, but the tomatoes really helped cut the richness of the cheese and buttery potatoes. That said, I preferred the Gruerien since it comes with speck (bacon lardons) and onions, but without the tomatoes to cut it, the richness is strong. The fondue was excellent and the atmosphere is lovely. The server with a brassy blonde Bob made sure there was no nuts in the bread or crackers we were given. My problem was when our server changed to a tall woman with short brown hair. I told our server I had a nut allergy (multiple times in French and she confirmed she understood) she said okay and then did not bother to check with the kitchen if my dessert had nuts, she just told me it didn’t. The dessert DID have nuts and if I hadn’t have noticed this, I could have died because her lack of care and unprofessionalism. This restaurant is NOT SAFE for allergy sufferers. Dieses Café Restaurant ist eine Institution! Man sollte sich einen Besuch in diesem traditionsträchtigen Ort nicht entgehen lassen. Wir sind per Zufall hier hingelangt da an Pfingstmontag sonst alles zu hat. Die Ambience ist atemberaubend und das Essen ein Gedicht. Ich hatte eines der besten Fondues in meinem Leben! Better make a reservation, otherwise tough to get in on prime night/times. Truely Swiss regional cuisine and character, centrally located in Fribourg. Um ein gutes Fondue in einer gemütlichen Atmosphäre zu essen, muss man wenn man in der Stadt Freiburg ist nicht immer zwingend 20 minuten Autofahren. Dieses Restaurant befindet sich mitten in der Stadt, ca. 5min. vom Bahnhof entfernt. Das Ambiente und die Einrichtung simd wunderschön.
