Fuming with the Duke. I have supported this pub taking visitors going mid week for a long time. This evening took visitors for their tea. There was a wedding party in which is fine and the poor barmaid was working like a dog with no help. Then they announce the landlord is on his way !!!! Did he not know he had a wedding party coming ? I asked the bar if food was being served to customers. Yes. And a chap from wedding party said they’d eaten somewhere else. Then the landlord had the **** cheek to ask us to MOVE so the wedding party could have our end of the pub. We came to the Duke of York in 2015 and the food was amazing, so we chose to come here again for Mothers Day. Big mistake. We found out that the pub was now under new management and we waited an hour for starters, with no apology from any member of staff, and although it was quite busy it wasn 't full , After that the mains came quickly enough, although my daughters beans were stone cold, my husbands fish and chips were burnt and I had to pick a bad bit of the potato out of my mash. Then 2 1/2 hours later we got our bill and found that we had been overcharged by £10, so had to ask them for a refund. We'd been over at Bulcote Park,although the children had eaten,the wife myself hadn't. I used to live in Heyside until the age of eight,my mum even cleaned at the Duke of York when she was alive. Quite a few people in,we asked were we ok for food,we chose a table in the corner, drinks ordered a quick look at the menu,the children had already eaten,they just wanted icecream, we ordered a hunters chicken I usually go for the fish chip's with mushy peas. The food came out quickly,well presented,all I can say,clean plates. I hadn't been in here in years,although I do pass most days,nice place to be,wonder how it is on a busy day? Sure we'll be here again.

I have drank in this pub for many, many years. We have had a few landlords over the past couple of years. The Food has always taken a long time to come out but it has normally been good quality. Unfortunately when I went the other day for lunch with my husband, we found the food inedible! even when sent back and came out again, the food was not good quality at all.
I had the steak pie,my wife had a chicken baguette and the two children had chicken nuggets are all meals were delicious and smelt lovely.Along with 2rounds of drinks I still had Change from £40. The pub also has an outside seating area which is a bit of a suntrap and with a park with an excellent play area just across the road this place is a hidden gem.
My family and I arrived at the restaurant for a pre-dinner drink. The pub has a great look and a nice atmosphere. However, when I went to the bar to order 10 drinks, the staff ignored me in favor of the locals. I ended up walking away due to the poor attitude towards customers.
I started going to this restaurant three weeks ago for the Thursday night quiz, and it was an absolutely amazing night. The entry was free, and they also provided a free bingo ticket and a free super x. The atmosphere was brilliant, and the staff were wonderful as well.

I stopped by this restaurant in the late evening. I only had a drink, but they had a good selection of beers. The service was good and polite. I would definitely visit again. I can't speak to the food since we arrived after the kitchen had closed.
Went for lunch for my mums birthday. Landlord was very pleasant. Food was lovely. Good old fashion pub grub.
