I was traveling with Swiss people who visit here often and they recommended the 'capuns'. They are chard-wrapped dough and a little meat, covered with some ham and cheese all in a broth. I was a little skeptical but I tried it. It was very good, all local (you can see them growing the chard in local gardens) and it filled me up too. The chard was not overpowering as it can be and I was glad that this order also came with a mixed salad (including carrots, beets, and tomatoes). Overall, I was glad I did not order a standby of the hashbrown dish called "rusti" which my friend ordered. It looked good too but I had to try new foods.
We stopped here in the evening for dinner the place looks dated on the inside, but the waitress was very welcoming. She spoke at least fluent German, Italian and English. We opted for the cheese fondue for two, which is served with bread. For an extra CHF 6 you can order extra's we opted for potatoes. We could have done without the potatoes, as the provided bread is actually enough. It's served with a short wait, and tasted good. Nothing special, but cozy and friendly. Happy to eat here again
Only been there for a delicious Sunday brunch! I had "Edelweiss Rösti": Swiss rösti accompanied by fried egg! Superb! Rösti consists of fried, shredded potatoes. That’s it. That’s the main and often sole ingredient of this easy Swiss specialty. Crisp on the outside yet soft and velvety on the inside, the simple rösti possesses a rich, complex flavor and competing textures that make it a sheer delight to eat.
Vals is a small Swiss town, high atop a long twisting road out of Ilanz. Once in the square, public parking can be accessed behind the Hotel Gasthaus Edelweiss. My wife, and I took decided to eat lunch here.Little did we know that the food turned out great!Food quality :Great with really big portions.We ordered one pizza, and I ordered a Corden Bleu.Service :Friendly staff with an immediate offer of the english menu.Location :It is located not far from Vals Therme, about 5 minutes walk.
