I can't help but feel envious of the houses and apartments on 1st St. that now have El Ranchero as their neighbor. This taqueria offers a diverse menu with plenty of options. In addition to tacos, they serve cemitas, burritos, enchiladas, and even pizza. The owner is incredibly friendly and is more than happy to help you explore the menu and recommend dishes. You absolutely can't go wrong with their Tacos al Pastor, which feature marinated pork, pineapple, cilantro, and onions. The salsa verde and salsa roja are perfect complements to the tacos. Be sure to check their Facebook page or ask about daily specials like Pozole and Molcajete enchiladas.
I have eaten here 3x now. Twice in and once out. It is small, authentic and the people are very nice. The food is very fresh and delicious. The tamales are so good and yes, they do have the bones because when you cook the pork on the rib, it stays tender. The steak nachos are so good. Anyone that has ordered Mexican food for delivery should know that it will be soggy from the condensation. That's why you should pick it up yourself. All those delivery apps charge the vendors big fees and lots of the time, don't report the orders properly. When you try El Ranchero, eat in or pick up quickly. You'll be guaranteed a good meal.
Place is authentic, staff speaks English but if you can speak Spanish, that would be a plus. Food was crazy good. It's authentic, if you don't know what authentic Mexican is, do not expect taco bell or some other almost Mexican food. It was amazing, clean and the atmosphere was designed towards the blue collar employee. Food was out of this world, staff was helpful and excellent. If you like great food, beautiful people and a bit of Mexico in NJ, this is it.
I worked for a long time with the owner at another restaurant nearby that has since closed. During that time, he consistently prepared authentic Mexican dishes that were always amazing. I visited his new place tonight, and his food is just as fresh and delicious as I remembered. I'm so glad I can enjoy his cooking again; it's absolutely perfect!

I was craving authentic Mexican food, and since El Ranchero Taqueria is in my neighborhood, I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! We ordered tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas with salsa verde, all made with fresh ingredients. I loved everything, but my favorite was definitely the chicken enchiladas. We'll definitely be coming back!
Very friendly staff, the owners are hard working and sincere. They have a different way of cooking some Mexican dishes from their experience and location in Mexico although it's very good, healthy and freshly cooked.
Although the menu was limited because they only open and wait until the food supply comes into the tacos we were made with care and tasty. I definitely go back to try other dishes when they have the full menu!!!

Legit the best tacos I’ve had in NJ!! A must-go! My sister and I went back for seconds right after we finished our first round.
