Was greeted by super friendly welcoming staff who were clearly well trained on not only the operations of the bar and bistro but customer service. The staff were so accommodating and hospitable which unfortunately is what a lot of restaurants these days lack. The selection of wines were extremely broad in fact hard to choose from. The beer was cold, the pub was very busy but that did not stop the food from coming out very promptly and was as expected was absolutely magnificent. The menu was simple yet timeless, very reasonably priced and tasted sensational. Overall best pub experience in Melbourne i've ever had, and will most definitely will become a regular customer there.
Great to be at an old fashioned hotel _ no pokies _ where a cold beer, fine wine and substantial meals are of the utmost importance. This family-owned pub makes everyone feel "at home" and one of the main objectives is to help people have fun.You run into all types here _ some real sporting celebrities _ and invariably you are introduced to them as a matter of common courtesy! The TAB is a good addition, while those interested in sport, from footy, cricket, tennis, racing of whatever, have TVs plastered everywhere. Hard to beat this one!
Me and a couple of friends have met up for drinks and a bite to eat in this establishment quite a few times! I must say every time we go we are more impressed! The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food is always top notch, and the atmosphere is always happy and fun. This place is definitely worth popping into! We've met Jane and Andy (the owners) quite a few times there and they are always so welcoming! They make sure to pop around the tables and catch up with everyone! Can't recommend this place enough!!
On holiday in Melbourne and after a couple of days we miss the vegetables. Found this gem by chance tonight. Boxing day there are a few establishments closed. Luckily the Emerald Hotel was open for service. Excellent service it was as well. Food just what we were after. Plenty of vegetables with the best chicken parmigiana I have had in a long time. Reasonable priced wine by the glass. Great meal thanks Emerald Hotel. Highly recommend.

Australia Day!!! Glass of Riesling, a pot of beer, the races, the cricket and tennis! All available on-screen. Staff pleasant and helpful! Wait for our lunch of beef burger and meat pie with vegies a little long but no complaints about the food! The pub was full pleasant locals and friendly chit chat!! Great venue!!
This is a friendly place with attentive staff, real pub food that are sensible portion size. My duck linguine was superb, washed down with a Mornington Peninsula chardonnay. We needed prompt service in between swimming events down the road and that's what we were given, with many smiles!
This is a pub that hasn't been lured to the pokies dollar . It is a genuine Aussie pub. Great beer , quality pub food, friendly staff , great banter . Races, sports . Tab. What more does an Aussie lad want in a Saturday afternoon ?
We had lunch with a group of 6 people. Everyone single one thought their meal was delicious. The bonus were the friendly owners and staff. It felt like an old fashioned country hotel. A rare find in the city.
