We waited at the front desk for about minutes without anybody even speaking to us. A couple came in after us and was seated before we were. That couple didn't even have reservations as we had made, but we noticed they were seated in the bar area, which in a sense felt like a justification for them being seated before us. When we were finally approached, the waiter didn't even care that we had reservations and sat us right next the the couple that had come after us in the bar section, while they had booths available and proceeded to seat the people that came after us in the booths. If reservations don't matter, we should be told that from the beginning
If you don’t offer gluten free items just be truthful and say that. We called to verify if they had gluten free options and were told a variety of menu items that could be made gluten free by the receptionist. When we arrived the server had no clue, went to the back to ask and said the woman on the phone was wrong and they in fact did not have anything gluten free. Terrible experience and a huge waste of our time. Just be honest from the start
The chefs special, a fabulous cheeseburger and fries was amazing!!! Too many things on the menu contained truffles or jalapeños, so we decided to pass. We live in the suburbs, so it was kind of scary going into the bus lane to get to the restaurant but we made it! Everyone was friendly and helpful. The house red wine was great. If you the cheeseburgers and the best french fries I have ever tasted, I recommend Engine 28!
Food was good, server was good. However parking is a challenge when it's blocks away there are so many homeless people on the sidewalks. Leaving the restaurant we were immediately confronted by a homeless woman who wouldn't leave us alone. I like the food the restaurant but sadly I will think twice about venturing to downtown LA to meet friends for dinner

Waited for minutes for host along with people who had been waiting for more than minutes already. No communication from restaurant staff. Restaurant was less than half full on Valentine's day, and hostess appeared to be helping wait tables. Left before being greeted assuming it was going to be a bad dining experience
we went around 1130a when they were opened in the week. our server was perfect. she was friendly, efficient, helpful and respected the time we needed to talk business. eating was delish and I can see that I can come here for a happy hour. great mood.
I did not enjoy my visit to Engine Co. No. 28 due to the staff ignoring me and my date as soon as we entered. We had to walk up to a staff member in order to be seated. Just an overall unwelcoming feeling.
I forgot how good this food tasted! Excellent all around. Will definitely be back!
