After realising we hadn’t expanded our weekend café choices over the past six months, we really felt a change was in order. Erskineville (suburb) had been on our ‘to visit’ list for some time and heard from friends the area has great cafes. This is my third review for a café in the area and fair to say my friends were not wrong in their assessment. As a venue, EV is pretty relaxing and if sitting down for lunch, try one of their craft beers. It was a little early for us given we arrived at 9am but maybe next time if visiting for lunch. Headed down Erskineville Rd on a whim as visitors. Erskine Villa looked welcoming, the staff were friendly and greeted us with a smile - nice decor without being too try hard. We were seated quickly and coffee order taken just about straight away. Ordered food off the interesting and tasty sounding menu. Couldn't locate good ole bacon and eggs for the bloke - was tempted to ask for a deconstructed bacon and egg roll but thought that might be a bit too cheeky :-) The breakfasts - bacon and eggs for my plus one (yes they do serve bacon and eggs if you ask) and scrambled eggs for me on a divine rye with a lovely side of beetroot relish if my memory serves, were generous and tasty and arrived qu...

Erskine Villa is a beautiful space with a lot of natural lighting coming through the windows. The menu itself is quite diverse and isn't the usual cafe with generic bacon and eggs. It's nice to see a little diversity throughout the menu with plenty of options for vegetarians. The staff are extremely friendly and absolutely make you feel like a regular, it's nice to feel familiar at a place you haven't been to. One of our friends was vegetarian and the staff were more than happy to make arrangements to the poutine to suit us. Love coming here and I always look forward to seeing the menu change

Ordered an extra hot coffee, it came out tepid. I sent it back, the second was hot but not so good. A dish based on fries (Putine) came out cold and soggy after having waited 20 minutes. The other dish, the breakfast bowl, basically was raw veggies chilled from the fridge and beetroot dip and edamame, also from the fridge. I love this place. The food is original and interesting. Not your standard breakfast. Everything is fresh and service is always friendly. They do get busy so suggest going earlier to get a seat and avoid wait times. It has floor to ceiling windows and the interior is just a beautiful mix of pastels and coppers. So nice to be there on a sunny weekend. They do drinks too so it's really a good all rounder. Highly recommended.

If you've never had a poutine before, then rush to Erskine Villa in Erskineville to try theirs. Shoestring fries with housemate morcilla, curry sauce, cheese curds and 63 degree egg. Delicious but make sure you bring someone to share it with. It's filling. We didn't have any other dishes. Shared a housemaid soda. It's a very hybrid looking cafe that feels right at home in Erskineville. I'd go back for this dish definitely.

Called in for a coffee. Would rate it as one of the worst I've ever had. Not hot enough and a bitter burnt taste. Ordered it with two shots and it was pretty weak. Staff friendly enough.
