We put this restaurant on Tripadvisor in June last year after they opened. As owners of the nearby "Champagne B&B" we sent many clients their way this last year, and ate there frequently ourselves. Yesterday was our final visit. My wife and I sat down for a relaxing discussion over lunch. Although the restaurant was empty the "atmospheric" music started. I asked if the owner could turn it down a little because we could not hear each other talk. He insisted his clients liked the creole music. I replied what clients, the restaurant was empty. New restaurant/café between Chateau-Thierry and Dormans. Owners are Eric and Sergine CAPRA from the French overseas territory of Reunion (near Mauritius). Madame Capra is chief cook. Her husband serves and tends bar. The many times we have eaten there since they opened in March, the food has always been fresh and inventive. Because they have such flexible hours we tend to send many of our Champagne B&B guests there. As of this writing the price for a four course menu, noon or night, is 12,80 euros.
Not atmospheric in the traditional sense, but very good cooking (at ridiculously low prices) with the son of the owner having a lovely smile and eager to help. They deserve support for what they are trying to do in this perhaps unprepossessing village in this part of France. We had been recommended to go here by a local B & B owner, and for a simple meal it was a very pleasant surprise. All home-made and fresh every day we had a delicious porc dish and yummy creme caramels! All credit to them.
We tried this restaurant mid week, we were the only ones in there initially and then another couple arrived. With no English spoken from the waitress we muddled through and were pleasantly surprised when two fantastic starters arrived. I can wholly recommend the exotic salad and my partner enjoyed the assiette creole. We thought we were onto a winner, however our mains just didn't quite deliver.
