3.5 stars! I had the opportunity to stay here for six nights with my parents. The hotel is beautiful and has a tropical oasis vibe complete with a waterfall. Since we arrived the last week of November/ first week in December the hotel was decorated for Christmas with opportunities to visit with Santa. There is a ticket center on site as well as an exchange to purchase toiletries, otc meds, souvenirs, snacks and drinks. Shades is considered a deluxe resort so you get early morning entry as well as extended hours for the Disney parks. The rooms themselves could do with an upgrade. The carpets seemed old and musty. We didn't stay at Shades of Green; we just wanted to explore the ambiance. We purchased tickets from ITT, which were fantastic, and enjoyed lunch at the bar inside Evergreens. We had an absolutely wonderful time! The bartenders were incredible! I ordered a kids' meal, and the grilled cheese was cooked to perfection, accompanied by a side of fruit. To address a previous comment questioning the fruit: children are encouraged to have healthier options now! I personally thought the fruit was fantastic because it included a variety of fresh, not canned, selections. Team, this is a very quiet resort. The buildings are dating well, in other words, this is an older facility but they work overtime keeping it clean. The service, the service professionals are very kind. We ate there a couple time and the food is good. To be completely honest, the on-site marquee restaurant (this is only my 1 time personal experience) was poor. The filet was returned, the veggies were lukewarm and the server, unfortunately, didn't take to the specials and we missed out. However, If you're a golfer, this place has to be a destination. I would rate Shades 3.5 stars. As others have mentioned, it meets expectations perfectly. The property and rooms are a bit older, but they are well-maintained. The staff is friendly, and the food is decent. We only tried the breakfast downstairs and the coffee and ice cream shop upstairs, both of which were convenient and easy to access. The shuttle buses were also reliable and made getting to and from the parks hassle-free. If you're looking for an affordable, no-frills hotel near Disney, Shades is a great choice!

LOVE Shades of Green! Beautiful property, huge rooms, and great amenities. such an awesome place for military families to utilize when visiting Disney World. I will never stay anywhere else when in Orlando! The proximity to the Polynesian was an extra bonus as well. Super easy to get there to access the monorail and to get a Dole Whip...every day!
The service and atmosphere were great, and the staff was very friendly. However, I would recommend avoiding the chicken nachos – they were quite disappointing, particularly the cheese.
This was a nice place for a drink but nothing special. Order at the bar, no servers. They had knob creek rye, so that was good.
Excellent safe place for active duty, retired service members. The pool is so much and the life guards are superb.
