Buyers beware! The man in the store was very nice and helpful and we asked him for 4 fresh brownies from the case behind the counter. He started to fill the order when this woman came out and took over. He turned to us again to confirm how many we wanted and which ones to be sure she new how to completed our order. We've repeated it twice. The woman never talked to us, made a man walk away and closed up our box. We were bringing the brownies to our friend's house as after dinner treat only to find out instead of 4 we only had 3 brownies. Paid for 4. Make sure you check your order before leaving the store. Will never come back and buy anything from this vendor.
This place is seriously overrated! Honestly, the brownies aren’t even that impressive. I’ve had much better ones elsewhere, and I wouldn’t include these in the top 20 brownies in New York City. I paid around $20 for a few small brownies, but they accidentally charged us $35. It took nearly ten minutes for them to sort out the register issue for the refund, which was really frustrating. The chocolate flavor is quite weak, and they’re excessively sweet, overshadowing the other flavors. I would give it one star, but the staff were polite and did take care of the refund issue, so I’ll bump it up a bit for that.
Fat Witch Bakery keeps it simple and straightforward, even offering samples. Their brownies are smooth with a satisfying thickness in each bite, plus crunchy edges that create the perfect texture. Compared to their top competitor Mah Ze Dahr, Fat Witch Bakery’s brownies are sweeter, which comes down to personal preference, but their texture definitely stands out. The menu features a variety of flavors; while I didn’t detect much difference between the salty and regular options, the berry brownie introduces a tangy twist that enhances the experience if you enjoy that flavor profile.
My favorite brownie in all of NYC! If you're in Chelsea Market (after 3pm especially) and you're in the mood for a really good brownie, head straight to Fat Witch Bakery. Why after 3pm you may be wondering, because the unwrapped brownies are half priced in the late afternoon. Do yourself a favor and don't miss this place. My personal favorite is the classic or walnut but the caramel and coconut one was also good, as was the butterscotch.

Delicious brownies at Fat Witch Bakery, and surprisingly affordable for New York City. I hope they raise their prices before they have to close down. It was only $3.75, and the one I purchased rang up at just $1.75—maybe it was on sale? Honestly, if they charged $6 per brownie, there’d probably be a line out the door and around the block, because New Yorkers tend to splurge on treats like these.
Stumbled upon this little shop in the Chelsea Market. They had a sign in the front highlighting a feature of their product in Sex in the City. They know how to get a tourist's attention! They had a bunch of big and mini brownies of a variety of flavors- like blondie, matcha, etc. Overall, they were pretty good! Nothing out of the ordinary, but a nice treat.
The brownies were absolutely delightful and delicious—I just couldn't stop myself until I realized I had eaten the entire batch! They were definitely freshly baked, as they were wonderfully moist. To top it off, I bought them during the witching hour promotion, which was just $1.75 each, so I had to go back for seconds!
I didn't get a chance to take pictures but the brownies I got were double chocolate and my bf got the oatmeal brownie. Both parties agreed it was not too heavy and overwhelming on the stomach and perfect for a breakfast even. Place in Chelsea marketplace which has a great atmosphere

I absolutely love Fat Witch! A friend of mine brought some treats back to Hawaii from her last two visits. Now that I’m finally in NYC, I made it a point to stop by and enjoy them myself.
Very delicious brownies. One less star as staff can be more courteous!
