Sunday 4th June 2023, My husband and I went out for the day to go to a ‘Plant Fair’ at Felley Priory Gardens at Underwood in Nottinghamshire. The drive through the countryside to the priory was a real pleasure with lots of wonderful greenery and flowering trees and bushes and the day was wonderfully warm and sunny. We arrived and parked our car and then strolled round the Plant Fair. We saw some wonderful plants. My husband purchased 3 dark blue agapanthuses’ for our large garden pot, which we had been meaning to do for some time. My husband and I then looked round the outside of Felley Priory house and afterwards strolled round the wonderful gardens. Later my husband and I were in need of refreshments, so we went to ‘The Farmhouse’ Tea Room where we had drinks and cakes. My husband had a large slice of blueberry and lemon cake, which he said was delicious and a pot of tea. I had a latte coffee and a slice of orange drizzle cake. It was nice to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet with just the birds singing in the trees and no city traffic sounds. We left here as the garden was closing at 4.00pm.

We had probably the best ever scones here yesterday. I'm not keen on giving something 5 stars as I think an awful lot are just fakes, but this really deserved it. We are RHS members and its free for us to go round their gardens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so we did that too. Very nice formal gardens with some great topiary, but its heading into winter so not much in the way of flowers at the moment. I think I'd be a tad miffed if we'd paid £5 each to go round. Its a nursery rather than a garden centre and you can see them growing things on. Lots of hellebores (which are sometimes called Xmas Roses) for sale. We bought some for the shady bit of our garden. £25 for 3 compared to £25-30 for one the same size on the internet.

What a find !! Dawn and her team hosted a lovely private afternoon tea for us after a family funeral . So glad I discovered this tea room ; a beautiful setting with lovely garden and gorgeous cakes. The Felley teas … sandwiches, cakes, cheese straws and scones were amazing and all our guests commented on the lovely food . Staff looked after us so well. The service and attention to checking we had all we needed was just right for the occasion. We will be visiting regularly and cannot recommend this lovely tranquil spot highly enough . The garden has a fabulous view and lots of space to sit outside.

Booked a table for lunchtime and so glad I did. The menu offered the typical country fayre, including various pork pies with salad, quiches, soups, jacket pots, wide range of sandwiches. Portions wre generous and food was locally sourced, supporting independent suppliers. Set in the grounds of a historical priory/country estate, though the priory itself is no longer visible. Excellent views of the local woodland and countryside, with a nursery and country walks to explore. Afternoon teas are available but require booking in advance. Well worth a visit.
