Ferme - Auberge Wassmatt

We went here following a recommendation from a local. Not so obvious as many of the local auberges and literally off the beaten track. Curiously not named on local IGN map either but is shown with Auberge symbol and named 'Wasenmatten '. Take a tiny road between Petit Ballon and Wasserbourg and the auberge is signposted on the elbow one of the sharpest hairpin bends, and accessed down a rough track. You can also walk there down from the summit of Petit Ballon or any of its many car parks. Anyway, once found it provides super local and genuine cooking with friendly service from Gabriel and family. Generous helpings, great taste and super value. if the setting is pleasant for hiking, the meal taken on the farm leaves frankly to be desired; on the menu of the day; marcary meal, entrance; Vegetable soup (a green, unidentifiable soup, which vegetables?) the dish; (normally: smoke pallet and potato in the munster)- (coming on the table: from kossler cooked to water and a white purée of fluid potatoes, (or are the munster, onions????) the taste is not present!!! do not speak of the peat, you will find it empty. brief, - advice to the steroids, make you an idea, -when to others, enjoy the region to discover other farms significantly better in relation to quality prices, and especially to taste real regional dishes.

We were here with our American 's friend, They enjoyed the atmosphere and the original food. Awesome meal !!! We even try the siesscaas the desert with jung munster cheese. Very interesting. Thanks to the boss for the welcoming and now a long winter to rest before being able to go there anymore. Don 't tell it to too many people, it is a gorgeous place.

good stop for hikers but also accessible by car, you are welcomed in this typical inn farm. Marcary meals are very good, idem for game. In summer, it is best to reserve either in the room or outside in the covered terrace (if the weather permits). very good munster (which you can also buy).

very beautiful place with a beautiful view. very good reception and good meal offered. An old farmhouse with good traditional meals. Access to restricted parking. Possibility to eat outside covered but if it is cold it is not the top.
