Since 1982 I have been to and eaten in the Feversham Arms many times without a problem. I really looked forward to going there. This time had the most unusual experience I've ever had in a restaurant. There were four of us and we had a bit is a wait for our meals, though we did not mind as we were chatting. When they did arrive I discovered my fish was overcooked. I tried a few mouthfuls as I thought it might get better. It didn't so I mentioned it to the landlady expecting a properly cooked fish. Instead, I was told my fish was ok. I picked out a dry brown fish flake, only to be told the same. The next flake was totally fused to the batter. At that point, she reluctantly offered me my money...

What a lovely lunch in the garden today! We arrived soon after noon and there were already quite a few tables seated. Our food was really fresh, delicious and quickly served. We had two ploughmans and a hot beef baguette with gravy and chips. It was so lovely to sit in the garden enjoying the beautiful views, warm sunshine and our cider, spritzer and coke! Service was warm and friendly and so much appreciated on what must have been a very busy day as the garden was full by the time we had eaten... as could be expected on a warm sunny Mothering Sunday and during daffodil season! After lunch we walked along the daffodil trail. This was a beautiful walk, especially so as the daffodils were in t...
Daffodils everywhere along the river and in St Mary 's Churchyard beautiful. After a long walk we were looking forward to a lovely lunch. The staff were happy and quite busy. Lots of good things on the menu sounding delicious but I chose a hot sandwich filled with sausages and onions served, with side salad for £6.95. I was very dissapointed to find the roll and totally tasteless sausages cold and served with almost cooked cold onions and a salad that had plenty of raw onions in it which masked the flavour of the rest. I really didn 't enjoy eating it at all and wished I 'd paid the extra for a Sunday roast. The toilet had a smart loo paper dispenser that was just jammed and could have been...
From our arrival to leaving the welcome and service was great, really lovely and it’s dog friendly, the food was excellent and such good value. Game curry half and half, battered mushrooms were stunning real chips and nice garlic bread, jam sponge and custard , plum and almond frangipani with cream, I did wonder about telling you how lovely it was, incase you all decide to go, as sadly it was quiet, I just don’t understand why, as many of the pubs on the main rd were full, it is slightly off the main rd but only by 5 minutes, but it’s so worth a visit, it’s traditional pub fare, good portions and tasty, we will be back. We visited this pub a few times by ourselves and again with friends at various times during the week. The meals on each occasion were terrific. The service faultless. There were 6 of us for breakfast on one occasion. The landlady Rachel had to deal with a sick pet and Pete was asked to step in. We each ordered full English, eggs all cooked differently. Our food was served hot, with humour and bottomless pots of tea along with some friendly banter. Great pub, terrific views, really nice food, friendly efficient service.
We did not stay in the hotel, we had a meal and drinks.I had completed the review from this perspective. Its a great pub but the staff did not seem to want a group (8 adults and 7 kids 10 15) in the pub.The beer was very good the Guinness was exceptional.I had a curry, I was disappointed the onion was not cooked through, it was more Spanish flavor.Others had nice food their gravy was very nice.It did put a dampener on the trip.
A warm welcome from landlady Rachel at this traditional Farndale pub. Well kept ales on tap and a decent Rose wine slaked a thirst on arrival followed by a plump Sirloin Steak and trimmings and a plate of crispy scampi to keep us fed. Excellent value for money and all the traditions of top class inn-keeping can be found here in the glorious setting that is Farndale.
Went for a meal with friends so there were 8 of us. Excellent menu choices, beer was good as well. Portion sizes were big, be warned. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming, especially from the dogs who are laid back but like an ear flobbling. Service came with a smile and we felt that nothing was too much trouble. We will be back. The arranged pick up time was not adhered to. We were kept waiting 1hour 50 minutes. Pub closed from 2pm to 6pm so can only check in from 12:30 to 2pm. En-suite small and no extractor fan. Small room. Difficult to get to wardrobe because a chair blocks to way.
