First State Brewing Company

Today was my first visit; the atmosphere was nice, the dining area and bar were clean and everyone was very pleasant. We were quickly welcomed and seated, and our server was good. I only had one cocktail, but it was delicious. After the first impression was made, I was quickly disappointed. My friends ordered the poutine and brussel sprouts. The poutine was nothing more than cold, mushy fries (like one would expect eating leftover fries) with cold cheese curds, and cold gravy with semi warm meat. The Brussels weren’t even cooked; they were almost as hard as jawbreaker. Great beer!!!Skip the food.I came here with the explicit purpose of getting poutine, even informed the bar tender that 's why I came, he said we sure do; after I got a beer I went to order food and was told they were out.So I ordered a blue hen sandwich, with sourdough instead of brioche, and fries; everything that was deep fried tasted of plastic.Not sure how, suspect someone dropped something plastic into the fryer; the oil didn 't taste rancid/fishy.When I asked the server if I could switch to sourdough, he responded Probably not, but I 'll ask. My nephew and I visited First State Brewing Co. on 7/19/23 at 3PM, we were greeted by Brittany and seated, she presented us with food and beverage menus for our perusal, took our orders and explained that some of the brews I was interested in were no longer on tap. She was so very helpful assisting me in selecting replacements for them. We both did a flight of 4 and were very impressed with the quality of those brews that we ended up taking some cans home for later enjoyment. We have been coming to First State Brewing since they opened. It has been a couple of months since our last visit and we were looking forward to the usual menu items we order the food here has always been good. Unfortunately it was a let down today, it seems like the quality of the food has gone down hill. The menu items appear to have been adjusted and we get the sense they’ve been “cheapened”, and the standard was not what we’ve come to expect. The taste was just not the same either. What a great place!! Awesome people, great food, and delicious beer, great atmosphere for family/ friends. Honestly my second family!! I feel so comfortable here. I walk in and I automatically get Triangle Theory from Grant and Mike!. I'm glad I got introduced to the this amazing place I fell in love. Every one and everything is fantastic here! #BestBreweryInUSA

Chicken nachos cost $24! Yes you read that right, $24! That is a ridiculous amount of money for NACHOS! Strike one. Next, there is no salsa available for the nachos or tacos. Strike two. Third, they don't serve Coke or Pepsi products. Instead, they choose to choose artisanal sodas like blood orange. Yuck. Strike three. I won't be back.

We were driving from Lehigh Valley, PA to Cambridge, MD and made a halfway stop at First State for some brews and dinner! We were not disappointed! Shared the poutine (amazing! and had the chicken sandwich and burger. The menu had many other options like tacos, cheesesteaks, wings. There is a huge beer list! What an awesome place!

Food has always been great, and the beer selection is fantastic. About half the time we do takeout, and half the time we eat in. Service is always friendly and great (and my 8year old is a huge fan of the free video games!)One request: any chance the kids menu items could be added to the Toast app for mobile ordering? I love First State Brewery, they have great beer and food. I do suggest you get there before 6pm on wing Wednesday as they seem to run out of wings. Two times driving up and no wings, unfortunate since I then go to another brewery for wings.

1st visit was stellar. Servers know their stuff. Kitchen churning out fantastic food. Lots of beer options hello margarita sour! Space is fun, colorful airy. Outdoor seating available such a great experience!
