I was wondering why when I reserved parking in a small 30 truck parking lot that there was 13 people in line for 1 of the 6 showers. Which I thought 6 showers was quite a lot for a 30 truck parking lot. Then after getting here, waiting an hour in afuel lane for security to get a non paying trespasser to move, waking up the next morning, reserving a shower still, 2 hrslater, only being the 10th in line. After the 1st hour I realized why. While potty walking my pup I noticed that there is aHUGE Lazy Dayz RV Campgrounds right by the truck stop. As I waited, I realized why it was taking so long. While tending to my dog, I noticed a large Lazy Dayz RV campground right next to the truck station. It seems that many of these holidaymakers prefer to use the truck stop showers instead of their own in their RVs. This Flying J feels more like a campground convenience store/shower facility than a traditional truck stop. It's clear that the campers aren’t in any rush to finish their showers, as they're on vacation and taking their time. Meanwhile, for the few truck drivers who still have jobs, many of us prefer to start our day with a shower. It looks like I might have to make do with a less-than-ideal bathroom situation. I’ve been visiting this place for years and still miss the previous restaurant that was here; I haven’t quite gotten over the loss. This location is larger than Yee Haw Junction and I-75-301 in Riverview, FL, but smaller than the truck stop across the street. Some of the parking spaces can be a bit tight for big rigs, but they do have a dump station and offer propane. Access for large RVs is easy. The staff here are fantastic—always friendly and welcoming. I appreciate having such a great spot to stop. I deducted a star because the place is starting to show its age, particularly the main restroom, which needs an upgrade. I would definitely visit again.
I've been going to this place for years. I still miss the restraint. (I'm still not above the loss) This place is larger than Yee Haw Junction Fl and I-75 -301 (Riverview FL) smaller than TA above the road. Some of the rooms are narrow for large Rigs. It has a garbage station and propane. Simple in and out for large RV. Staff is the best. Always friendly. Thanks for a great place to stop. Lost a star because the place shows some age. Main room needs an upgrade. I'd visit again.
The bathrooms and showers are closed and unavailable. There’s no ice cream or substantial food options. If you want a hot meal, you’ll have to use Grubhub or go to the T/A Travel Plaza by 10 a.m. And by the way, slice-of-pizza from the deli case doesn’t really count as a proper meal.
Small Flying J. Half of the 20 or so truck spots are pay to park only. $18/night but there isn?t a lot of parking for semi trucks in the Tampa area. Typical Flying J as far as the store is concerned. Would have gotten more stars if the lot was bigger and had more parking.
