It doesn't seem to matter what it is that David Coomer turns his attention to - it always seems to work (although everything would be vastly improved if only he would do those little liquorice ice creams that were part of the degustation at Star Anise). The dining space has an almost velvety feel to it - the walls are near black, it's softly lit and intimate.  The staff are relaxed and service is unobtrusive.  We definitely over-ordered but I suppose there are worse things you can do than overindulge in this food - but our eagerness meant we did not get to dessert. Disappointing and underwhelmed. We had high expectations given the owner. However, it seems like the bad service has definitely let down the restaurant. Here's a tip - do not overbook the restaurant and then expect people who have booked weeks in advance to be told during the middle of eating the main course that they need to move from a table to the bar because the restaurant has overbooked. That is downright rude and unprofessional.  Won't be back again. Overpriced food.

One of the best meals I've had in Perth, sorry I only came on your closing night. The pork belly Bao was delicious as was the, pumpkin pastry, spanner crab, watermelon salad and the cuttlefish. Look forward to trying your next venture whenever that will be.

Una de las mejores comidas que tuve en Perth, lamento haber llegado a su última noche. El Bauch Bao del cerdo era delicioso como las galletas de calabaza, cangrejo clave, ensalada de sandía y calamares. Esperamos su próxima empresa cuando sea esto.

No sé por qué tienes un depósito medio. Para ser honesto, la comida es realmente buena aquí. Los sabores son tan refrescantes y nuevos. Esto definitivamente será un restaurante para visitar una y otra vez. Vale la pena intentarlo Reserva una mesa ahora

I don't know why they have a mid range rating. To be honest the food here is really good. The flavours are so refreshing and new. This will definitely be a restaurant to visit over and over again. Worth trying
