This review is for the Ashton in Makerfield shop. I couldn't find Ashton on Tripadvisor, so I looked under Wigan instead. The senior person at the restaurant was not very friendly. Over the past three weeks, they have given different excuses for not having chunky steak on Mondays, such as only having 35 available or only having deep filled available. The website states that they have it daily, so I don't like being lied to. When I ordered three items on a Tuesday, I wasn't given a bag to carry them back. The person after me received two bags for a similar order. The weather was also poor, and overall the staff did not seem to be very good at looking after customers. The younger staff members...
Hi, has a regular customer of your shops I went into market place wigan to buy a pie on Friday lunchtime. One of your staff members was calling a previous customer so I wasn 't impressed with that. I asked for a meat pie and got my £10 out to pay and was met with have you not got any less than that? I can tell you now I can 't change that, I have no pound coins, can 't do it I said a busy pie shop on a Friday and you 've no change? There 's several banks across the road it was said in very ignorant manner to me has well. So, off I went to nearby greenhalghs and got a lovely meat pie and was served with respect. Actually, Wigan has plenty of pastry choices, but Galloway's stands out for offering good quality at a slightly lower price compared to other bakeries. If you're looking for a 2 for £1 pasty, just go across the road 30 yards. If you're willing to pay a bit more, walk 50 yards down the hill. But if you want affordable food that won't give you heartburn for under £2, then Galloway's is the place to be.
Don’t go anywhere else! more fillings in all of their products compared to other pie retailers, other retailers are mostly pastry and are rather too hot or too cold. Galloways have got it right in all departments. Baked the traditional way, fantastic if it’s not broke don’t try to fix it.

Really, really good pies. I bought some fresh to put in the freezer, and some hot to eat on the street. I think it's the pastry that does it it's kind of half way between shortcrust and flaky so is slightly crunchy with a satisfyingly high fat content.
I would say that Galloway's are the best bakery shop in wigan, every thing they make and sell is delicious, you have to visit this shop when you come to wigan ,after all were not called pie eaters for nothing .
Staff pretty friendly, food is always hot sometimes the bacon is dry and over cooked, pretty busy at times leading to a wait to be served, very handy to get a takeaway for the train.
I came for the football, but the main reason was to try the famous Wigan Kebab. It was definitely worth the visit! The food was fantastic!

Sugar rush or what.too much sugar goes in very unhealthy and can't even taste chocolate .don't recommend going here for desert
