I have been to Gartons three times now, giving them a fair chance each time. Unfortunately, the service was slow every visit, with one day even having to stop lunch service due to the staff not being able to cope with the number of customers. The food, especially the waffles, was not great - dry and overly sweet, and definitely not a good combination with egg and spinach. However, a positive aspect is that they are dog-friendly, which is a bonus for those with furry friends who enjoy waffles.

The carrot cake at this restaurant is delightful. It's a nice, friendly place that is tucked away from the main road, with a charming view overlooking the church and old market place. Definitely worth a visit. They also offer a great selection of coffee and hot chocolates.
