Gay Lane Fisheries

On Friday, November 20th, my partner and I were driving through Otley after a visit to Smiths Garden Centre. As we approached the fish shop, we both suddenly felt inspired to have fish and chips, and decided to take them to Chevin car park overlooking Otley. We had the most delicious fish and chips ever, eating them out of the paper with plenty of salt and vinegar. The staff at the restaurant were very welcoming and accommodating. Overall, it was a first-class experience. Thank you, David and Cathy.

As my title, my friend wanted a sit down and was going elsewhere until we realised there’s few seats in the window. So we sat and ate and watched the World go by up and down GAY LANE. My what a busy place. Food was...tasty, maybe my friends fish cake was yesterday’s fish but all in all we enjoyed our food. We are more than happy to come back. A good experience in Otley. Then back to the traffic, not so good. Makes you appreciate home.

Thought I had reviewed this chippy before, but can't see it. Otley has a range of chip shops, none that bad (from memory), but not a single one stands out massively above the others. So choice is a matter of location and specific requirements. I...wanted to mention Gay Lane Fisheries as having been in today I see that the ownership has changed. The good news is that everything seems as good as before. So good luck for the future!

not sure whether we were simply unhappy, but the fish and chips we received were different from others I had in my 40 yrs to eat fish and chips dark brown in color not golden through any stretch of imagination mixed with much. of scrap. could be an answer to the inflation and the desire to make the oil longer, but definitiw not the best fish and chips I ever had! I used to purchase fish bites from this place and they were very generous in size and delicious. However, the last time I visited, I was disappointed to see that the portion size was much smaller than before. Due to this change, I have decided to explore other fish and chip shops in Otley to find a more satisfying option.

This restaurant serves fantastic fish and chips with a crispy batter, large pieces of meaty fish, and deliciously fat chips. The friendly and fast service only adds to the wonderful experience. What more could you ask for? 5/5 stars!

I called today for fishing, chips and mushy bases. the fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were nicely cooked and not soggy. the owners are very friendly and polite. very good value for money. best fishing and chips by far.

Excellent food, fish cooked to order and a decent portion. I just great honest food with no pretence. Owner chatty and social I will most certainly return.
