Met partner formeal before heading to the theatre So quick bowl of pasta required. I had the gnocchi which was fine plenty of it. My partner wanted carbonara sauce but asked for penne style pasta. Waitress said she needed to check if it was available. The verdict was yes but it was gluten free and would cost an extra $2. Stuck with the fettuccine. Quite empty restaurant being a pretty cold night and still early. Plenty of staff around looking busy adjusting napkins polishing glasses but when you want to catch their eye they're elsewhere. Took ages for them To take our order aNd we had to ask if they would do it. If you're in a hurry and the place is all but empty they should be all over you....
We went here today with a big group of 50 for brunch, it's a big venue in a great location, staff were friendly and it runs like a well oiled machine, I used to come here years ago and it's still the same. Orders were taken very quickly, and food brought out in a really quick time for such a big group, I had the big breaky which was well cooked and tasty, our table ordered across the range and all meals looked good and everyone enjoyed their food. The coffee was good and drink orders also came out in really good time.This is a well established icon of Camberwell with consistent food and service which is unwavering. Get down here before or after the market on a Sunday, it's the place to be!
While visiting relatives in Melbourne, they took us to this café for lunch. Although the atmosphere is compromised by the very large interior, the food we had was of a high standard, which made it an excellent choice for a luncheon break in between shopping. I had my favourite pasta, the Linguine di Mare which certainly met my high expectations and the other three people in our group were more than satisfied with their choices. The service was quick, efficient and friendly with special care being taken to ensure that our young granddaughter got the right flavour of milkshake, which she is very particular about. This all added to a very pleasant family outing.
Recently went to the Book Launch for Quentin Bryce where we were treated to not only a delightful insight into the former Governor General and her dealings with people from all walks of life, we were given a wonderful meal by George's to boot.The upstairs area is large, well maintained and offers good service and an excellent venue for gatherings.The meal consisted of ricotta stuffed chicken breast with broccoli and chicken gravy, salad and chips, capped off with dessert of creamy panacotta, strawberries and toasted sliced almonds. Delicious.Those with special diets were well catered for also.

I ordered the Pea, Zucchini & Haloumi Fritters on my first visit here. It was served with an avocado and tomato salsa and garnished with micro herbs. Looked amazing and tasted great. It was a pity I had to wait until my friend was halfway through his dish, before I was served with mine. I prefer the meals to come out at the same time. Second visit I had a huge bowl of minestrone soup. Nothing at all like my mum made. This was watery, lacked flavour and hardly had any ingredients in it. I felt ripped off at $14 for a bowl of red water.
Ate there last night after theatre. Saturday night 8pm only half full. Very large space and i think it more caters for quick turnover so no problems to just turn up i think.Large menu mainly Italian based, very good food and service. Good wine list.Handy place if you need a quick meal without a booking.
Have been here both for lunch and dinner , great service , big menu many dish to choose , calamari rocket salads was Yum , some grill fish was nice too beautiful seafood pasta , great Coffee comfortable seating Big clean & bright great for big group or big family we like it Recommended
We needed to find a venue quickly for a family lunch for 12 and decided on George's. None of us were disappointed with the food and service. Plenty of space as we had a table at the back near the kitchen. It is a large open space and the tables are well spaced. Will go again.

Went with great anticipation but left so disappointed. Staff were aloof. Poor customer service. Food was plentiful but when its ordinary, who wants plenty. Not cheap either for a glorified café. Strongly suggest there are many better options in Camberwell.
