Georges Tradition Fish And Chips

After church on Christmas Eve we decided to go to George’s for supper, having previously checked they were open until 8pm. We arrived at 7.20pm to be greeted with the following statement “it’s only what we’ve got in the cabinet we’re not cooking anymore”. Well we pointed out that with 40 minutes to go until their advertised closing time we expected our order to be meet in full, pointing out that we were ordering what we wanted, and it wouldn’t be wasted food. I recently dined at this five-star restaurant and ordered the traditional cod and chips. The crispy batter was delicious, with plenty of perfectly cooked fish inside. The hot chips were ready immediately. The friendly and efficient woman who served us was a delight. Thank you for the great service. They also offer convenient card payment options and a variety of meal deals for families, couples, and singles. Highly recommend this place.

I purchased fish and chips, curry, and peas from George's in Ilkeston last night. It cost over £10. I requested a large fish, but received a small one with more batter than actual fish. I could have bought a huge fish, chips, curry, peas, and a savaloy from a chip shop in Giltbrook or Hilltop for the same price. I will not be returning to George's as I left more food uneaten than consumed. Terrible value for money.

We go to this chippy every day for the lunch time deals and to say they have gone up to £2.75 we think you actually got more when it was £1 for the deal thinking of going to another chippy we’re u actually get more for a little more to get enough to feed 2 people I have to buy a chip cob just to make more of the deal so costing twice as much

We are regular visitors to this lovely restaurant and have missed it terribly during this pandemic and lockdown period, so were delighted when we could order takeaway to enjoy in our garden. Fabulous fish and chips as usual Georges and look forward to be back in the restaurant soon

Back under lockdown so I have reverted to the Click Collect service even though walk in is still available, system is easy to use, no queuing for food and the fish and chips are as good as ever.

Friday has always been Fish Chips day for my Mam and Georges are one of the best. I am still using the Click Collect app which is great, food is always hot and a portion is ample to share.

Service is so slow particularly at this one. If Belper and Allestree can get chips out the door within 5 minutes, why can't this one! Won't be going to this one again.

Just purchase possibly the worse fish and chip that I have ever had. Total disgrace. This chain used to be the go to place. Never again
