Ok This is my local Chinese, it was always, without exception, the best Chinese takeaway in the area, and believe me I’ve tried them all. BUT since the new people took over earlier this year something has gone wrong! The food is just not as tasty anymore, something is lacking now, and it’s just not the same. This is a real pity as the food here , like I say was always the very best. Please please can the old chef please come back and show the new guys has to cook the old way. I really hope so ,
The food at this restaurant is absolutely incredible. I was on holiday from Scotland and it was my birthday, so I wanted a break from cooking. I had a chicken curry, prawn curry, and chicken balls, all of which were absolutely delicious. Even after a 15-minute journey back to where we were staying, the food was still piping hot. I highly recommend this place and just wish we had a Chinese restaurant near us that offered the same quality of food.
This used to be one of the best in Ashington, Now it`s absolute garbage. The food was awful, My bill for my takeaway was nearly thirty pounds, and every pennyworth went in the bin, they even forgot to put a simple item like a bag of chips in. The man on the telephone could hardly speak English, and was argumentive and rude. So as you might gather, I won`t be using this TAKE IT BACK CHINESE anytime soon.
To be fair the Golden Flower in Ashington does exceed in its freshness… upon ordering King prawn in oyster sauce I wasn’t actually Informed on the call that the ‘restaurant’ actually sends a trawler at Newbiggin to pull his pots up for the prawns to be transported back to their kitchen to be fried. I wonder why the Golden Flower isn’t on Just Eat….
It seems like Golden Flower has undergone a change in management or kitchen staff recently. The last two meals we ordered had really poor quality meat, both the chicken and beef were unacceptable. We have been loyal customers for years and the food has always been top-notch quality.
This is by far the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The house special chow mein was served in two separate containers, with plain noodles in one and a watery chow mein in the other. I have never had anything like it before. It was extremely salty and I couldn't even eat it.
