We stopped at Rudolf Kurst winery in Burgstat. After our tasting, Paul the current owner) recommended Faust Braustubchen in Miltenberg for lunch. However, being late Saturday afternoon and in mid February, Faust and most of the other restaurants in town) were closed. Some locals recommended the Goldene Krone. When we walked in, I did notice a Tripadvisor certificate in a cabinet by the wall which I thought was interesting, as in Europe, most establishments that are proud of their tripadvisor ratings, have them posted where easily visible. The meal selections and quality) was above average of what one would expect to find in a small German village and since we were the only ones there for most of the time, the service was great. It may be totally different in tourist season or busy times. We were pleased with our experience. When we got home I then checked, just to see what other reviewers thought of this place. Glad we didn 't check before, as we would heve gone on to the next town for our meal
Spicy bad food where most of the items on the menu were allegedly “sold out”. We believe that they simply do not have any of the “complicated” foods in stock. Only two tables were occupied. But worse was the service and recruitment of the staff. Since we weren't too hungry, we wanted to share something and say we had to pay for a second set of cutlery. Where did you ever hear that?! The staff also screamed over the whole restaurant, who it is to take the garbage out. This place can only survive on tourists who have no idea what they have come into themselves and who will not come back anyway. Worst place ever!!! Be warned to go there!
Our journey through Europe led us to Miltenberg, where we discovered this jewel. We were so lucky to get a table as the restaurant was completely booked nearby. The service was fast efficient. I couldn't help but order a carving I was so impressed. Served piping hot delicate meat that was not over crumbed. My wife had the Sausages Saurkraut. Our server, Edeka, gave us good instructions what to drink added their local knowledge of wines. This is a great find in Miltenberg. We recommend it very much. Tina Dhon Armour
We stayed in the beautiful old town of Miltenberg for lunch and chose the Golden Crown because of the very beautiful seating outdoors and traditional German menu. We were not disappointed! The service was friendly, competent and attentive. The food was fresh and very well prepared. I chose the Chicken Fricassee with a regional speciality Pasta called Spaetzle and Salad. A word of caution for foreign tourists: credit cards have not been accepted. Take cash!
