Good Cakes And Bakes

Forced to give one star. After providing amazing vegan cupcakes for my wedding in 2021, Good Cakes and Bakes was my husband and I’s first choice when we were looking to get a special gender reveal cake for our first baby. We went to the location on Livernois to place a special order (and so that we could give them the gender in an envelope from my doctor since we wanted to find out together with the cake). The woman that worked there was incredibly rude to us and told us we could not place an order in person but had to email and wait for a response and then drive all the way back there to supply the gender. She absolutely refused to take our order in person. We weren’t even looking for anything special- just a round cake, with white icing that had blue or pink cake inside, that’s it. One of the bakers even came out from the kitchen offering to take our order because it was so simple and this woman wouldn’t allow it. She really put a damper on such a special time in our lives and I left the bakery in tears. Never again will I give them my business. Having the best cake on Earth doesn’t make up for being rude.

The customer service is zero stars!!!! I contacted this store through their online inquiry on July 12th. No response! On July 24th I called the store to let them know that my inquiry had not been answered and Angel stated that she would pass my message on and someone would contact me. As of today, that has not happened. I was interested in having them bake my wedding cake. I will never shop there again and I will pass my experience on to anyone who asks about this business. Do not waste your time! IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER: I am very thorough and find it hard to believe that I entered my email incorrectly. This is something for my wedding day. Your online inquiry has a required section for a customers phone number and it must be entered to proceed. Did you call me when you saw that the response came back? No. Also, when I called your store, I left my email and phone number AGAIN. Still no response until this online review. Now you suggest me emailing an entire different email address and wait another 48 hours. No thank you. I am not confident you would even deliver my cake or make it correctly. I’ll pass.

Great sweets! Great neighborhood! Great service! Great great great rumcake!!!!! Unfortunately, this is an updated review to a business that I have loved for years. On a June afternoon, I purchased a rum cake slice. At home, I ate the slice and there was NO RUM FLAVOR! However, I ate it, so no problem. A week later, I met up with friends and tried the rum cake again, because in the past it was so delicious. Again unfortunately, no rum flavor. The manager swore that I must be mistaken. She said that she was neither authorized to refund me, nor exchange it for another type of same priced product. What can a manager do there? She then advised me to email the owners for some kind of compensation! An email to the owner over such a trivial matter? By the way, I sent the email. A month later and still no response. I am very disappointed. I would like to note that the staff and manager were extremely polite and the location on Livernois is very beautiful. This is just a very poor way to treat loyal customers.

The horrible customer service I received at the downtown location (22 W. Columbia Street) Tuesday October 3rd 2023. I can't hold it against this location. The workers at this location always treat me with respect. With that being said I'm changing my one-star review to a five star review. My favorite is the yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

Banana pudding is so delicious… my grandmother loves it. She requested it for Mother’s Day and I was determined to get it for her. I got one for myself and it was absolutely phenomenal. The young ppl working in the shop were polite and welcoming.
