We found this restaurant online after arriving in Montreux. It’s located in old town Montreux, a short walk uphill from our hotel. We were four hungry travelers, arriving for dinner before the restaurant opened. The chef had not yet arrived, but Daniel let us in the side door, and got us started on what turned out to be a feast, and possibly the best meal we had in Suisse Romande! The chef suggested a charcuterie board as a starter, and we went for it! Great quality meats and local cheeses. We ordered the cheese fondue, served with bread, potatoes, cornichons, and Pearl onions. The day’s special was the endives, stuffed with ham and covered in a cheese gratin. Did I mention cheese is the best in Switzerland? Yum! Next, we had the beef Bourgogne with potatoes au gratin. Yes, we stuffed our faces but made room for the best dessert ever! Meringue with berries and Gruyere double cream! And I thought dessert had to include chocolate! Not here. If you’re in Montreux, don’t miss out on this little gem. Three of us were wandering through the old town in search for dinner spot and stopped by this small unassuming Cafe, unknown to us. It was fateful. The meal porcini with pasta for me and fondue paradise for my friends followed with unforgettable desert were delicious. The time was fun, and the whole experience was hilarious, thanks to the staff that may be easily mistaken for your family (I wish I could name and thank everyone). Five months later I am still smiling recalling this visit of the year. Highly recommended.
This is a small restaurant hidden in the middle of old Montreux. The weather allowed us to see on a terrace with a fire and enjoying a cozy atmosphere of the place. The fondue was excellent with the just right amount per person. The local wine complemented the experience. Our Dachshund (sausage dog( was with us, and she was very much welcomed on the terrace. One word of advise, BOOK IN ADVANCE or you risk not to have a table.
