Three of us were wandering through the old town in search for dinner spot and stopped by this small unassuming Cafe, unknown to us. It was fateful. The meal porcini with pasta for me and fondue paradise for my friends followed with unforgettable desert were delicious. The time was fun, and the whole experience was hilarious, thanks to the staff that may be easily mistaken for your family (I wish I could name and thank everyone). Five months later I am still smiling recalling this visit of the year. Highly recommended.
We had a fabulous meal in the old town of Montreux. It was a bit of a hike up the hill but the exercise was well worth it. The staff and patrons made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was also the local drinking hole for the residents of the old town which made the evening very entertaining. The cheese fondue was exceptional. Thanks to the staff and patrons at cafe Grutli for a memorable evening.
Alles gut soweit einen Stern abzug gibt es für folgende dinge: Katze geht in die Küche ein und aus, ebenso läuft Sie über die Tische und bestecke. Beim Fondue haben wir beim ersten mal altes Brot vom vortag wahrscheinlich bekommen, was sehr trocken war, beim zweiten mal war es frisch. Haben wir aber gesagt, das hat dem Kellner wohl nicht interessiert oder er hats nicht verstanden.
We had fantastic food and kind service. Unassuming and a little quirky, it feels very much like a local place we were the only tourists and though there is an English menu you may need a little French to chat with the staff. We...had an astoundingly good fondue and mussels. The chef also kindly made some allowances for our requests. Would highly recommend!

Ein absoluter Geheimtipp. Ein urwüchsiges Restaurant in der Altstadt von Montreux. Typische Schweizer Gerichte liebevoll serviert. Gloria, die Inhaberin des Café Grütli, bewirtet Ihre Gäste höchst persönlich. Man fühlt sich, wie zuhause. Das Essen ist sehr schmackhaft und ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall. Absolut empfehlenswert!!!
I would love to keep this place a secret..it’s that good! The food has real flavour and is prepared with pride. The service is super friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I personally love coming here for dinner and I hope you will too.
Can’t say enough about all the amazing dishes I had here. The owner and Chef are so friendly, is an experience like no other. The food is excellent, good quality and delicious flavors I had never experienced, worth a visit if you are in Montreux
The best service. Not to cheap though. The cheese fondue was very nice. The wine was also very nice and very kid freindly.
