Halibut House Fish Chips

Ordered tonight after reading an article on how fish chips shops may go extinct due to decreased sales associated with rising fish costs and customers pinching pennies due to inflation. Well it might be due to the declining quality more than anything else: chips were UNDER cooked and the fish was greasy not flaky as is typical for halibut (it was tough in texture and likely not halibut). Cole slaw was served in a small drink cup and not fresh tasting at all. $70 in total for 2 people not worth the gas to pick it up and I’ll never return. I like to support local businesses and take the occasional night off from meal preparation but, as with local pizza joints quality is getting very dismal lo...

The service was good, but the food was just average and arrived lukewarm, not hot. The fish had a nice flavor but wasn't served hot enough. The hamburger was decent, but it was overloaded with mayonnaise. The fries were bland and spread out on the plate, which seemed to be to help them cool down faster. Also, I didn't receive any coleslaw.

Went in for breakfast this morning just before 11:00 to get the special. They said no problem. Breakfast was very good.Then we ordered fish and chips to go for later on.Put in the oven for 8 minutes to warm up. Very very good fish and chips. Very picky about fish and chips, they do it exactly as we request. Great to see this place with new management and an awesome cook. Good fish and chips are so hard to get these days with great shops closing and being taken over by new owners who loose the quality. Will keep going here for all of our fish and chips. Kind of a hidden gem. Nobody eats fish and chips that often but they have other items on the menu including grilled fish, and offer a $6 breakfast. A very pleasant experience.

The fish and chips here are excellent! The price is great too. I definitely ended up eating more than I should have, but I couldn’t resist finishing almost everything!
