Handels Homemade Ice Cream

Let me start by saying Handel's ice cream is amazing and a favorite in my house. With so many flavor choices, ya just can't go wrong. I've been to several locations and always expect a wait. However....All that aside, it was my 3rd visit to this location on Father's Day to bring a treat to my dad. Upon arriving the line seemed short (maybe 10 people/groups in front of us). I commented to my mom, that this was the shortest line I'd seen at any location I've been to so expected us to be in/out quickly. It was 48 mins from getting in line to paying for ice cream. There were 3 employees working. 1 appeared to be focusing on online/app orders and 2 were assisting customers in line. I occasionally saw another person walk around in back. 2 people on a holiday with a now growing line, oh and not to mention moving at a slower pace than all other locations I've patroned. I really couldn't believe how long it was taking to scoop ice cream. Short staffed on a holiday at a place you know is always busy isn't good. I'm not sure why, but employees that are working need to hustle more like they do at other locations. We can all see you if you are moving at a snails pace. Also, letting those of us in line know you're short staffed that day and will be with them soon would have been nice.The ice cream is good, but service needs to be significantly improved here. My 1st 2 visits were similar, just not as bad as there was more staff working. Honest truth!

Service was respectful. There was no wait. There are tables benches outside for you to enjoy your ice cream. The flavor, however, was mediocre. I expected it to be at least as good as the cookies cream Dreyers/Breyers ice cream we can find at the supermarket. The scoop was a little less than given at the Pasadena La Canada location, so savor every bite.

They now offer a stamp card after 12 stamps get a free scoop.One of the best tasting ice creams ever. Banana cream pie and any cheesecake related flavor is worth the splurge on calories. Try taking home a pint or quart of your favorite flavor to savor for later.

Coconut pineapple ice cream is amazing here, the black cherry was great as well. The staff was friendly and efficient, will definitely be back.

Chocolate almond is my favorite flavor which they stopped serving, sure won't be back
