I've visited this restaurant several times, and the food has consistently been great, particularly the wings. The staff is always friendly, although it can be hard to identify them since there are often random customers behind the bar. However, the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. In the last two to three years, I've only encountered more than eight people (including staff) on one occasion. During our cycling trip, we stopped by this cozy little dive bar just a short walk from our hotel on a Monday. We were excited to find some food options! However, we were disappointed to discover that the drinks were extremely overpriced. We ended up paying $9 each for a Captain and Coke and a vodka soda, which were the most expensive drinks we encountered from Cleveland to Lake Placid. After that, we decided to visit the convenience store and relax at our hotel instead. I'd recommend avoiding this place unless you don't mind overpaying.
On November 12th at 9:30, the new bartender asked us for our IDs, which was surprising since we had never been asked before. One of us was only there to drive a friend home, and I wasn't drinking at all. After we tried to discuss how our friend would get home, she told us we needed to continue our conversation outside in the 20-degree weather. Her attitude was incredibly disrespectful, and it felt like they had bigger problems to address than our presence as a designated driver for our friend.

Genelle is the best bartender you could ask for. This place has a warm and inviting atmosphere for anyone passing through, and we definitely want to come back. We had two enjoyable nights at the Happen Inn, and I hope there are more to come if we find ourselves in this part of New York again!
