A fast food Persian place that closes late near UCI campus fits the bill for students and late night dining. Not much ambiance as this is a fast food self service place where you order at the counter and pick up when your food is ready. There are a few tables inside and there is an outside covered patio at the rear. Be warned the tables are small but the portions are huge so the dishes barely fit on the table. The flatbread is huge! They have a limited drink menu consisting of standard fountain drinks like sodas. Since there is not a lot of seating and the tables are small it may be easier to order take out.
The biggest disappointment was seeing regular tap water being used for the tea. Just take a look at the image I uploaded. Why not invest a few thousand dollars in a quality water filtration system for the restaurant? It seems the owner believes customers won't notice or taste the difference after enjoying the food, which is quite amusing. In Japan, they actually use specialized filters for tea, coffee, and rice—three different types of water filters! Yet here in Irvine, they’re using plain tap water, and the local tap water is recycled from sinks to fill the tea containers??
Just ate here for 2nd time. I hate it when kabobs sit in the back and come out not hot. Ate half of it and left. I did notice other orders came out hot. Sad that mine was probably sitting for 5 min before being served..I was by the counter and picked up asap but still not hot. I may try a 3rd time but probably not..many other choices in town. Taste was just ok..ordered the beef koobideh. Price is ok $13 for a single skewer and bread. The side salad at $9 is expensive but decently fresh..though clearly sat in a fridge for a while. The bread is good. Reserva una mesa ahora
Excellent Persian food in a food rich shopping center. It is pleasant to sit outside in the courtyard. That’s what many people seem to do. Rotisserie chicken is really tasty. Of course the traditional chicken and beef kabab are great as is lamb shank and dill rice. Finish everything with a cup of tea! Close by is the Persian ice cream store. Good for dessert afterwards.
I've been making the trek from San Diego to Irvine just to enjoy the kale pache at Hen House for many years now. I truly appreciate their wonderful, warm, and friendly staff who always make me feel welcome. Over the years, I've sampled everything on their menu, and it just keeps getting better and better!
Always a great experience here... Delicious, Clean, fresh, reasonable rates.. the owner offered us special Persian black tea while we're waiting for the food. Hospitality is one of the most comforting feelings when it comes to the Persian culture.. Thanks for making us feeling back at home.
Always great and fesh food. Hardworking staff in front and back in the kitchen. You get free tea with your food too. Just ask the front desk. Treat them with respect, pay them tips as this place can get quite busy and I can only imagine how much work these staff have to do. Reserva una mesa ahora
Koobideh was really tender and fresh. We really enjoyed the food. The place can get very busy during the weekend. The complementary bread was very tasty as well. Will definitely go back for more.Food: 5/5
