I've lived in Henley Beach for a number of years now and I'd never been into this pub but decided to pop in when a friend and I realised that what our healthy sunday afternoon beach walk really needed was beer and chips . Look, as I only had a beer and chips, I can't really give it a full review. What I can say though is that the bistro has a number of tables in a semi outdoor section where you can gaze at the ocean and soak up some sun which was quite frankly lovely. ALSO the chips are available with gravy on the side AND as there were 2 of us they gave us 2 ramikins of gravy. Excellent chip-etiquette.
Do not go to this hotel. The staff are rude the service stinks! If you want a bet on the races go to the Seaton hotel where they actually understand that if you spend your hard earned on a bet you want to HEAR the race. I was informed by one of the darling young ladies working there that I must be deaf! and that she could clearly see and hear the races!! How rude and disrespectful. The manager actually let her get away with all this, pathetic. The meals are average and the service not much better, Stay away!!!!!
Henley Beach hotel is in a prime location along the foreshore of Henley Beach towards Henley south. On offer is your standard pub grub at reasonable prices. Think schnitzels, fish and chips, burgers etc. Don't expect anything fancy but the food is nice enough and will satisfy your hunger after a long day spent at the beach. The bistro area is very popular especially in summer so if you want to dine in it's probably best to book ahead.
We had a lunch here, a beautiful location just by the Henley Beach. If you sit outdoor you can enjoy the complete seaview. The food is average. This establishment has been a regular for almost 8 years by us. It's a great spot particularly on a fine day with its outlook to the beach. It has however, not kept up with earlier offerings in its menu and the standard is not as good as it used to be. As food goes the choice is OK but rates just ordinary and in reality would not hurry back this time.
Good pub food at a reasonable price. I have been here several times in the last couple of years and it has not disappointed. Chicken Parmigianino was OK and the 200g steak tasted fine. However the bread and butter pudding was VERY disappointing no filling inside. Better off keeping to the other desserts.
