Das Haus dient als Naturtreff. Es möchte Kinder und Jugendliche für den Wald interessieren und begeistern. Er soll dazu dienen das Wissen anschaulich, unmittelbar und sinnlich erlebbar zu vermitteln. Vorrangig angesprochen: Kindergärten, Schulen, Kinder- und Jugendgruppen. Selbstverständlich können auch andere Gruppen den Naturtreff für Waldpädagogische Veranstaltungen nutzen. Die Hütte kann Ausgangs- und Endpunkt für Waldführungen sein. Die Zusammenarbeit koordinieren der Förster, die Naturschutzverbände bzw. Vereine BUND, NABU, OWK und andere Waldpädagogen.
